VS added 10 new angels- which is quite an unprecedented "dilution" of their lineup.  This means that there will be less focus on each individual angel.  It shows that they are trying to attract a wider range by devaluing the "Angel" status & make it more disposable. What do you guys think?

For me (5 out of 5 cares)

---Attention:

Jac, Stella ****

Martha, Elsa, Lais, Candice  ***

--- Indifference:

Romee, Taylor, Alessandra, Behati **

Sara , Kate, Jasmine, Adriana, Lily  *

Well, I maintain my weight (only 145- my natural weight is more like 160-170) foremost by controlling portions and content.  A few simple rules I follow:

-I  eat only when I need to.

-I eat lean meat twice and sometimes once a day (once during the day and and once night)

-I eat boiled vegetables and fruit & drink a little orange juice.

-I avoid sugar, fried foods, and carbs.  I need carbs, but I try to get it from watery oatmeal (in the morning) and limit the rest to twice a day, modest quantity of bread and rice.  The most obvious problem is what I call "hard" carbs- cookies, crackers, and noodles are no-no and should be taken sparingly.

-I estimate calories.

-I eat smaller portions and spread out if possible.   (no more than 600 calories)

-I have little to no junk food and sugary drinks stored in my kitchen

I still have unhealthy meals outside though, but the discipline above is meant to "offset" the high intake so I stay thin... I still enjoy cake and fried things but it's not a regular part of my diet.

Hey Andy

Something I've been interested lately.... Hmmm.... Last month I was really into nutrition and weight loss but it's something that comes and goes haha. Have you ever been in a position where you tried to lose weight/ tried to eat healthier? If yes then what did you do?

^ Man, you're eating habits sound amazing!

And yes I just now learned about the 10 new Angels. Pretty surprising... I wonder how long Adriana and Ale will stay. I like the 10 Angels and under better. Will be interesting to see how well the new Angels do, so I'll give them a chance. However, in regards to the older Angels... I'd like to see them get rid of Behati and Lily. Adriana and Ale were great Angels but with all the young faces, I think it's time for them to move on. So many people see a resemblance between Sara and Adriana.. I really don't think her and Ale will be Angels for much longer.

Also if I were the long time Angels, I'd hate the news of 10 new Angels. It just diminishes the prestige/exclusivity of the title a bit.

, I have a very bland diet outside of restaurant meals.  Models must eat blander than I do...

I distinctly remember seeing Candice getting uppity with Elsa during an interview a few months back- as if she was upset with her about something.  I immediately sensed some 'turf' violation...It must really suck to see 10 newcomers take away much of this glory image that they've been basking under for a couple years.

The 10 new Angels are really out there.  I find only Jac a very good model- the rest of the 'attention' group I posted are decent models.   None of them to me are potential VS stars like Gisele or Karolina Kurkova.

I agree- Behati is alright but I am so tired of her thing and Lily I never liked as a model.  Yeah, Ale/Adriana, while great at their prime are now so overdone at this point as well.

It's funny about Sara- I see her as an Adriana- lite.  Adriana at her age, while bearing similarities was simply much sexier than her- almost as if she was a hotter older sister.  I find the relation between Candice and Romee somewhat similar, as well with Romee as a Candice-lite.  Candice has a prettier face and just models much better than Romee.  It would be kind of quirky if Romee and Sara manage to replace the two stars later down the line..

do you have any favs among the 10 newcomers or the 5 originals?

I'm pretty meh over most of the new Angels, I Think I probably like Taylor the best and Kate.

However, In regards to models that work for VS.... I'd rather see Vita and Ophelie become Angels. Vita, seems a perfect fit... But Ophelie might be too busty for them and her face is hit or miss to a lot of people, but hey they are using her atleast! That's a good step. I seriously Would rather see VS have Angels who have bodies like Hailey Clauson, , Hannah Ferguson, Solveig Mork etc I mentioned before I'm more a fan of their type of look... we have opposite preferences there. Because you like the tall, lean, athletic types correct?

Ophelie...G.?  Last name?  I'm not sure.  I like Hannah and Solveig's figures just enough- just not "as" much as some of the others.

Kate G. was a HF walker and 'poof'!, Vs angel.  Taylor did a lot of commercial work before and only some with VS.  Hailey looks like she got back to her look 2 years ago.  I like it.  an improvement?

I saw Mad Max:Fury Road.  Terrific Film!  5/5    I would go far enough to say that it is a classic in the making.   The first one hour is something that no one has ever seen before.

It is difficult to describe in words what I saw. In terms of adrenaline the only other comparison I can think of is the helicopter scene from "Apocalypse Now". Except it goes on for about 1:30 out of the 2:00 running time. It resembles a roller-coaster ride more than movie...

Spiritually, the first hour is a nihilistic celebration of being alive with all the endless death-defying feats. Like Kamikazes, the road warriors fight with suicidal 'elan' and exhibit great joy of battle..."GIMME SOME CHROME! GIMME SOME CHROME!"

This movie uses a lot of real stunts rather than CGI and has the appearance of 1980s graphic sci-fi like in those 2000AD/Judge Dredd magazines.  The settings are from that era.

The story can be simplified to an endless chase across the desert by a light armed vehicle battalion with various specialized.."combat assets". In its escape, the fuel truck gets unwitting or intentional aids that uses mobile groups, and these end up fighting the hostile battalion. There is even a sequence where they have to deal with getting bogged down in mud. The end involves a pitched final confrontation as those that are being chased turn on their pursuers.

The visuals and action are so outstanding that I feel dirty for saying negatives about this film.  But about 0:30 out of 2:00 didn't work.  This was a sentimental portion which came across as thin:

* Tom Hardy's physical acting was quite good, and Charlize was a very sexy & beautiful woman (tall, cheetah-like, clever, heroic).  Charlize can act, and does the best she could with the material.  That missing arm of hers gave her street cred...

What I absolutely love about the film is the zeal for life that's present in much of the imagery.

*But the focus on introducing many more female characters (around 9-10) took away from the relationship of the first two.  Of the five maidens, Rosie and Abby Lee were gorgeous and focused on.  But they couldn't act, and neither could most of the other women.

Nice art ^ !  I hear that Mister Miller Romero is talking another sequel.  I hope that it doesn't take as long as this one did to come to the screen.  I've not seen it yet, but I have a feeling we will once we get some more disposable income.  Plus, hubby and I are fans from the first Mad Max.

Glad to see you liked it!

Thank you!  Hopefully you and he will like it as much as I did.

Romero...you mean, George Miller?    There are sequels in the works...

Beginning 20 May 2015, Vertigo will release three comic book prequels, one per month, that detail the backstory for a character in the film. The first comic titled Mad Max: Fury Road - Nux and Immortan Joe will be released on May 20. The second one titled Mad Max: Fury Road - Furiosa will be released on June 17. The third one titled Mad Max: Fury Road - Mad Max #1 will be released on July 8. A deluxe edition hardcover collection of art titled Mad Max: Fury Road - Inspired Artists Deluexe Edition inspired by the film was released 6 May 2015

The art is from the art book.  I have a copy!

Yes, I blame hubby because we were talking zombies at the time I was posting here.  I sorta fixed it.

the book shall go on my to get list, again, when we have disposable income and can make it back to a comic store.

Still.... makes me wonder how long we'll have to wait for the sequels.

Hmmph, I don't know.  This movie will encourage him to pump out the second.  But will it be better than the first?  It would be quite difficult to do in the visual department.  The only area with sizable room for further improvement would be in character development.

Something about this movie- what made it special- was the intricacy and complexity of the visuals.  I believe that Miller had his head and had work completed on this project slowly over three decades so the end product was, unsurprisingly, not another run-of the mill hack/money grab flick but something with real passion put into it.  The storyboards, which are unfortunately not in the art book, are bound to be fascinating as for the conceptual drawings.  These will probably appear some time down the line as they usually do.

Jo, the art book is here (for free and if you can download yourself a CBR reader:).  I wouldn't say that it's good enough to buy.  It's just a collection of promotional drawings by various comic book artists:

Also:

This (official/written by the director)  is good supplementary info for the movie:

Personally, I'm most interested in Charlize's backstory...(Furiosa)

==================================

These are photos of almost every single vehicle type used in the film.  I believe that one of the major reasons why the action was so interesting had a lot to do with all the novel characteristics of the vehicles.  They spent great effort to design and build these things.

the boss vehicles:

1. Gigahorse (Immortem Joe, Leader of Citadel).  His son drives the "Big Foot".

2. The Stretch Limo (People's Eater, mayor of Gas Town) pulling a fuel tanker that supports his fleet.

3. The car-tank (The Bullet Farmer, leader of the ammunition plant)

4. Rockstar vehicle

And of course:

1. Max's Intercepter

2. Furiosa's War Rig

For posterity:

This photoshoot, with Maryna, Freja, Isabeli and Carmen Kass are one of the major things that got me more into models, and eventually onto TFS and then finally settling with BZ in 2010.  These used to decorate the stores and I found these four women utterly stunning, and I had to know more...a google search later and I found a new hobby <3  Anne V and Hilary from SI were also major influences, and I was also stunned by Maryna and Freja.  I also liked the old VS gang (particularly Ale and Karolina K).

I thought the limo was meant to be something of a small nod to the car Isaac Hayes drove in "Escape from N.Y.".

^^^

Oh, I have no idea.  Why is that?  I never saw that movie.   The stretch limo is my favorite car in the movie. The Doof wagon was also good.  Also, the spike cars are homage to a classic Australian movie from the 1970s.  There is also a mad max game coming out.  A franchise now??   From looking around, it looks like the game is cannon and will add to the story.  "Scrotus" is the third son.

Yep, I also liked the VS Fashion Show (thought it was a yearly treat) and recognized Isabeli from it!

I'll bet that George Miller did have Issac Haye's limo somewhere in his mind.

I would put Escape From New York on your watch list if you like post apocalyptic, beat to hell cars, Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Donald Sutherland, Adrianne Barbeau, or John Carpenter.  It is a classic! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082340/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Sanna is very pretty!

Oh thanks!  I should give that movie a shot.  I remember trying to see it when I was 20 or so and didn't really get much done.  Speaking of these actors,  I'm a big fan of "the Thing" w/ Kurt Russell BTW- it's probably my favorite horror movie.  Kurt Russell plays the best survivalist that I know of.  He has that type of charisma.  There were many scenes in "The Thing" that were excellently acted and Kurt's intensity drew me in.

I also have been able to browse "Art of Fury Road" as of late and can say that it's worth checking out if one really likes the film.  There are a lot of high res photos and little factoids about how the film was made & its ideas.

Quite a nice promotional video about a wasteland. I am not familiar with the franchise to say any more.  I have the impression that we'll be seeing more post-nuclear movies, tv shows, comics, and games in the coming years.
