Here are three amazing top models that did many good editorials.

I revisit the VS fashion show at least once a year, and thanks to French kiki <3 I found a new source with stage shots that was previously unknown to me.  The VS fashion shows, particularly 2003 to 2007/2008 were a brief moment of paradise.

I am probably going to do Gemma Ward, AnaBB, and other early-mid 2000s (editorial review) models next.

Maybe he was taking a vacation? :-D

Da Vinci's breadth of ideas was pretty theoretically brilliant but how many were actually practical I wonder:  And were all these ideas his or were many those of others, and then they became known as his...:-[

jhEl43DdHmpWu.jpg

That is his 'helicopter'.

This reminds me of conversations I had with a Civil War expert- he noted that ordinary literate people in the 19th century wrote letters of unusual literary quality, and the verbosity of it contrasts much with modern Twitter-speak and truncated communication.  People's faculties were developed differently.

Same with the Renaissance men I find.  We live in times of great specialization, professionalization, and abstract trades and their life of the mind was different. Their experiences and competences were more in manipulating and theorizing about the tangible.   There is an interesting scene in 'John Adams' where Thomas Jefferson comments on how he invented a new chair.

The founding fathers of this country- the American aristocracy, were people closer to that than people of today.

I heard a heated alien debate where a point was that Da Vinci's 'missing years' (1476-1478) were when he was abducted by aliens who showed him all of his visionary designs. I always wondered where he was during that time, but I just chalked it down to the idea that a lot of fasous people from such times have 'gaps' in their bio. I didn't get involved in the discussion but I do wonder where he was.

No, I didn't and thanks for bring it up.  What do you think of the trailer?  As usual, I find it not translating completely into Americanese and it's objective speaking, pretty pretentious.  But the motion capture is very good, although I lament the lack of dialog and story hints. (probably intentional).

So 'Outer Haven' is a dark society of some sort.  Did you notice that the oil rig is completely identical to the 'Big Shell' from MGS2?  A possible connection.....?

I suppose so. He's certainly reached a point in his career where he'll be indulged, regardless of how wacky or excessive his output becomes. I was surprised to recently read that he's 50 now, he looks at least ten years younger than that to me. Perhaps he's invented those nanomachines for real.

Did you hear, the new trailer for 'Phantom Pain' just debuted at the E3 2014 press conference. There's nothing in the way of gameplay footage, but it looks very cinematic.

Yeah, its harder to know with inventions when you go back in time. Well, many aren't willing to accept the known frauds that just got the patent while others did the work

That about the culture of the men of that time reminds me of someone I was talking to one time who thought Lincoln had male lovers because of his letters when in reality, it was just a different time in that regard. It wasn't unusual for men to write passionate letters to other men. Its amazing how far most are beyond that. Even the passionate email has been replaced by the short post, tweet or text for the most part.

Yeah, the trailer is somewhat pretentious (wouldn't be Kojima otherwise ) and amounts to little more than a montage of potential plot points. Seems to better clarify the tone of the story (one of anger, remorse, and hatred) than the story itself. Overall though, I'd say it's had the desired effect, because I'm now quite excited to see more.

From what I can tell, there are subtle references to events from pretty much all the previous games sprinkled in - the 'Mother Base' oil rig is almost certainly an exact copy of the 'Big Shell' one, while the depiction of African child soldiers appears to be a call-back to Solidus's alleged 'training program' in MGS2, that was said to have raised Raiden. There's an element of Big Boss's uneasy relationship with Ocelot in MGS3 growing into one of direct cooperation, and an encounter with Eli (who may or may not turn out to be a young Liquid Snake), which looks to be a concerted effort by Kojima to bridge the timelines and bring everything full circle for his two leading men.

What interested me most about the whole thing was the changing emblem on Big Boss's arm, from 'Militaires Sans Frontieres' to 'Diamond Dogs'. The soldiers of MSF (although they weren't fully realised characters in 'MGS: Peace Walker') had to be personally selected by the player, which made it easy to get attached to them. I doubt it'll be a prominent part of the story, but I thought it was quite a nice touch for Big Boss to be feeling their loss.

I know what you mean :-p  As far as models on this site (and TFS) go, almost all are pretty in some way.  Those that interest me are often the more successful ones.  Most of my favorite models were top models at some point (top 50-100) and top models tend to have more personality, charisma, and have the looks that 'channel' a certain set of representative archetypes.  And for the most part, they look over the age of 18 :-D

There is a difference between being beautiful and being a great model.  I find Sanna to be very pretty but I don't think she's a great model. Hogger and Veer have almost android like levels of perfect but may be the same way.  Then there's Camille Rowe (which Frenchkiki doesn't like ) who isn't gorgeous but is a pretty good model.

I like Terese the most as a model but she fell off the map as of late.

Olga is one of my types, but runs in the problem of looking unproven, and being a 'blank slate' so to speak like so many runaway models that only reach a couple of pages max on their threads.

This conversation actually reminds me of a thread idea.  When I get around to it, I'll compile face shots of all my favorite models and place them next to each other.  Others can do the same, and maybe we can discern patterns as to what we're attracted to.

I know, for instance, that I like a lot of Dutch, Brazilian, Baltic, and eastern european top models.

What kind of models do you like?

She reminds me of Polina Kouklina :-D

Currently, I'm into Lais Navarro and Rianne ten Haken.  And maybe Paulina, later.  <3  How about you?

Hiiii!! Been awhile!

Strange enough these days i'm more interested in the newbies/ lesser knowns because its interesting to see who will become a top model/ future legends. I think my problem is I get tired of models really fast, so im always looking for a new face... which probably isn't a good thing lol.

So true when you said "There is a difference between being beautiful and being a great model."  For example a lot of those models from Miami agencies are pretty but they tend to look very amateur-ish. Just one look at them and you can tell right away that they aren't high fashion material. Sure there are different types of modelling, but in my opinion being able to successfully pull off high fashion is what I consider to be the holy grail. A great model has to pose and emote well of course, but I think they also have to be versatile... as in they can do commercial and high fashion without a problem.

I think Camille is very pretty, but I see what you guys are saying. She's not a generic beauty, she's got a little something something to her look. Which is also what I like in a model. You can't just be boring pretty.. you gotta have a unique look to you.

This conversation actually reminds me of a thread idea.  When I get around to it, I'll compile face shots of all my favorite models and place them next to each other.  Others can do the same, and maybe we can discern patterns as to what we're attracted to.

Good idea for a thread! Did you start it yet?

And good question, I don't notice any trends with me in liking models from particular backgrounds.

Yes Nell van Hulst does look like Polina, but I thought for sure you'd say Erin Heatherton haha

Ahhh Rianne is gorgeous, I like your taste. She always reminded me of a particular model... I think I used to get Adriana vibes when I looked at her back in the day.

Are you into the World Cup? I was never into Soccer, be it watching it on TV, following it in general, or actually playing it. However, for some reason right now im pretty hooked to the World Cup going on at present time. Very much anticipating tomorrow's game... Brazil vs. Germany. Though I think Brazil is screwed at this point seeing as how they don't have two of their top players on their roster aka Neymar and Silva. Though you never know they could still pull a win somehow. Unfortunately all the teams I want to win have been losing, go figure.

Yea, I have heard that a lot of 1800s letters from ordinary people look like they are written by English professors. Then there's ancient greece...Men and young boys...my goodness!

Well on this forum the posts tend to be very short. In fact I find them excruciatingly short, and often I scroll a thread and it's mostly empty comments not worth looking at. On other forums about involved subjects, I find the posts so long and involved that I don't have time to participate usually.  Go figure..

That is a good point about both the back in the day letters and the posts. I notice that some seem to say 'thanks' almost exclusively in model threads. I appreciate the sentiment, but generally just thank them in pm to avoid wasting space with it . One thing I will give BZ credit for is there seems to be a general standard of etiquette that I haven't seen on many of the places where I've read comments. I'm not a true forum connoisseur, but just in reading Youtube comments and some posts on 'men's' forums here and there, I see the phrase 'go shoot yourself in the face' as a regular comeback during an argument . We've had some difficult people here and there, but its hard for me to imagine someone here saying something like that even during a heated argument. Oh yeah, I don't know if you still like Karlie Kloss or not. I know you didn't care for her randomly cutting all her hair anyway. I met someone one day that knows her based on EdibleSchoolYard. That stood out to me because I don't see too many people who know the current models, so it was interesting to see someone who knew her based on something outside of modeling or entertainment in general.

I don't like 'blame shifting'.   Use her thread or post in my members thread (link on my sig) if you want to talk about her.   Actually I do want to talk about her more.

No, no, it's not you in particular but some of the comments above it.

As far as Charlotte goes, she comes across as a pretty typical twenty year old model (one management) from a middle of the road background that lives in a small apartment. Outside of modeling, she dresses like a normal person her age.  I wouldn't be surprised if she had another day job. As a starting model, she has done a lot of tacky stuff that forces her to get weird artificial tans but is moving up currently.  There is nothing particularly 'enticing' in her personal twitter photo stream, for instance.  It's actually pretty boring.:

Well, first let me say that I don't hate the girl or anything and I will continue to enjoy the work that she puts out.  However, I do understand other members when they say she might be a little too broad for them and I tend to agree.

Pics like this aren't helping

Blond hair, big boobs and partying like this down in Miami aren't helping her achieve the cleaner image that I feel most of the SI girls have.  Take Kate Bock for instance.  She isn't spectacular or anything but I don't think you would see a lot of behavior like that on her instagram unless she was being ironic.  The biggest problem is just in the way she looks for me.  Her face isn't very special.

She can look good sometimes
