It was good... or rather ok. Nothing spectacular though
what about you? Was your holiday as merry as Nina in your profile photo? ![]()
Oh Michael, when I saw you posting here I thought you'd mention something else... like a certain transfer in the sports world ![]()
Ahaha yes, at first I read it very quickly that Albert laughed his wife is gonna be JHJ so I kind of missed the joke
and then I realized: yeah, it's funny because who the hell takes the 'junior' part of a husband's name? Never heard of such case before. And Justyna's surname in Polish is 'magpie'
If I don't forget, I'll scan that photo with her from that Vogue issue I was talking about.

Here comes the tiny scan.
From British Vogue November 2009

scanned by me

Is Anja Rubik a good television personality? During the course of doing many top model full reviews, I've long since resigned myself to the fact that most top models only do runway for 3-5 years before going into commercial things. Then they fade...... Anja, however, has survived quite long.
The eyes through the lenses caught me off guard. But I haven't seen the film in ~14 years..........
------------------
Yea, brands or the type of stores. I still haven't found you a jacket you completely like
and it would be fun to try.
That being said, I am in the market for a new long coat that extends below the knee. What kind of men's coats do you like?
Yeah, it is the biggest one here but I guess it's probably only 1/5 of the biggest malls in the world
what do I like? What do you mean, like which brands or...?
She definitely is. A few years ago I'd feel like it's stupid that she's so successful and isn't recognized, now due to gossip sites' interest in her
she's really popular. Ok, well, she's not a great target for tabloids but those websites helped her get recognition, I guess. But it was followed after her appearance in "Poland's Next Top Model" and ~faux rivalry~ between her and Joanna Krupa. She also designed a shoe collection for one of the shoe brands (which, come to think about it isn't doing well these days...) and has been a spokesperson (with her husband) for the most popular Polish jewellery company APART for a few seasons now. She also appears in this tv morning show in the tv channel that broadcasted "Poland's Next Top Model" for at least a few times a year...
As for her cutting her hair, I'm not sure if it was her or her agent's idea but after she got a new haircut she got more modelling offers, so it worked out well for her.
As for this Audrey photo, I feel like this is the first time I can see her eyes through the lenses? Maybe I never paid attention to that before but it always looked to me like the lenses are so dark you cannot see her eyes through them.

Haha, I checked Karmen's instagram today and it turns out she met Anja in the Maldives... so they are probably at the same resort or at 2 different ones close to one another.

You know, I listened to Anja speak English and while she does have a lisp, it is not noticeable until I listen for it. Her speaking is otherwise fine.
A lot of swimsuit photography is done in Maldrives. Maybe they wanted to go back to someplace familiar rather than having to deal with some travel stress?
Oh dear, you don't have to be an expert. Just tell me what you like.... ![]()
Do you like Carmen BTW? She was one of my favorite models in 2010 but I lost interest quick and stopped following her thread. I think it's because she's a very 'cold' model.

I don't know. I would imagine that as models visit many places on a daily basis but probably don't really get to explore them, when they have free time they want to go somewhere warm/hot where they won't be easily recognizable and explore more of the nature. Maybe Maldives has the best offer of all these nice places.
Trenchcoats are fine ![]()
You mean Karmen? Because there's Karmen Pedaru and Carmen Kass
I remember that I really liked her when she started out but was afraid she wouldn't make a career as a top model. Turns out I was wrong! I don't like her as much as I used to, I don't think she'd be in my top 10 if I was made to do one. I still prefer her over most of today's scene top models.

Dear, if you start from 8:30 you can get an overhead view of the islands. It looks like a great place to spend Christmas holiday. It's snowing and freezing here...
You know, I love the effect of going somewhere in the southern hemisphere, and having to change my clothes completely. Then, on the return flight back, the freezing temperatures hit me with the sad realization that's it's over. It swells with the knowledge that there are friends back there that I won't be seeing again for a long time. All those memorable moments also translate into cherished memories, and these memories become distorted as time pass. This is what occurs once I step off the plane.....:-p
You know, when I think of trenchcoats, I think of the world wars, the russian revolution, the Soviet union and street style circa 1900-1950. People wore lots of greatcoats and trenchcoats back then. Today? not so much. They've been replaced by shorter coats, wool, and coats with hoods.
However, I think that the leather trenchcoat I showed you is quite sexy and beautiful on a tall, thin woman.
So what's your top 10? Karmen in 2012:

I'm not a massive fan of New Year, but I always enjoy Christmas. It was pretty run of the mill stuff though, I just spent it with family - plus friends, food, presents and 'Doctor Who'. All the classics! ![]()
Ah yes, the worst kept secret in the footballing world has been made official now. I hear he's considering hiring personal security for the last few months of his current contract to protect him from irate Dortmund fans. ![]()
Thanks for the scan, you obviously have a pretty excellent memory! I dare say Albert has done rather well for himself there...

Burberry from 1918....It's the history of trenchcoats and greatcoats. Pre-1950s there was less in the way of heating so people tended to bundle up more. In period photographs, I see so, so many long and heavy coats. Then tens of millions of men in uniform were issued them.
--------------------
The snow has melted already. You know I much prefer the weather in California. Even muggy Florida is better than here. It is always better to live in a place that never snows. It's funny, because I've talked to people who have never seen snow before and they long for it like it's an idyllic hallmark card rather than icy inconvienience. ![]()

What do you think of this jacket?

I heard someone say that in Poland, its not a crime to have sex with animals unless you do it three times and that after the third time, you have to be shot. This seems also strange in light of the fact that I could have sworn there was no death penalty there. That's not to say I'd believe it without confirmation anyway of course. One of my first lists I made back in middle school was top 200 strangest U.S. laws. I wanted to post it online one time, but when so many Americans were surprised at most of them in person, I wasn't sure whether to show the whole world or not
.

Joe... don't believe that. Who told you that? Gronkowski?
This is the first time I've heard something like that and of course there's no death penalty. Every EU country has no penalty.
It's somehow different with these US laws, isn't it? I heard one state prohibits breaking 4 plates a day. Who the hell checks such things? ![]()

Maryna's jacket is quite ok but to be honest I am not on my leather jacket hunt now... ![]()
Ok, so some random thoughts about Oscar nominations/Oscar nominated films, from a person who hasn't seen any movie nominated this year yet
(but I cannot wait to watch "12 years a slave", it comes out at the end of January here and I think I'll go the first or second week of February to watch it):
-Why such hype about "American Hustle"? I don't know, haven't seen too many positive reviews from regular movie-goers and somehow that movie doesn't sound too appealing to me even though the cast is good
-If you ask me: Matthew or Leonardo I'd say Chiwetel! but seriously... M didn't lose all this weight for nothing, right?
-Jennifer Lawrence will probably get that Oscar but I'd rather Lupita have it
-is "Gravity" good but not as great as critics claim it to be? Sadly I missed it when it was in cinemas and even though I am not a fan of 3D at all I guess this movie is better to watch in 3D?
-I like Amy Adams but I wish she would get the Academy Award for a different role, or in the future
-I have heard about 3 out 5 films nominated in Best Foreign Language Film Category; I would really like to watch "The Hunt", "The Broken Circle Breakdown" (although I feel it could be super depressing) and "The Missing Picture" sounds really interesting.
-I don't think Lana Del Rey's "Young and beautiful" deserved the Oscar nomination, personally I find it quite boring
I feel like she keeps singing "will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful' and that's it
her songs are hit-or-miss to me. There was a list of songs which have a chance for nomination and Coldplay's "Atlas" was among them. Maybe it isn't strong in itself but I grew to love it. Also, I was already envisioning that after Gwyneth, Chris Martin would get his Academy Award
also, coming back to that list of potential Academy Awards contenders I thought: Pharrell's "Happy" may not be too... complicated for a lack of a better word and I guess it doesn't seem like something that could be nominated and see how wrong I was
that song sets me in a good mood, it really makes me happy ![]()

I like her outfit. So anyway, I went a little clothes shopping the other day but even after going through a hundred coats I couldn't find one that's thick enough for my needs. I would probably have to visit a tailor or would most likely have to shop much harder... ![]()
I have a copy of the film 'Lone Survivor' (based on a book and real life disaster, also nominated for 2 things?) and after watching some, it looks like above average hollywood military fare but it lacks the scale (about 4 men) of what I hope to be representative film of the war in Afghanistan. I have heard that it is relatively close to the real events, but of course dramatized for the big screen.
Gravity sounded interesting but I don't like the leads at all so I never even watched the trailer..
There's another acclaimed slave series called 'Roots' that took the responsibility of portraying slave life. I believe that schoolchildren are still made to watch excerpts from it. I know I was....

Hello you little munchkin
Whats the 411 with you then? ![]()

as we're sending messages to each other at the moment I answered in one of them.
Although I have to say... I was pretty sure this 411 thing meant "what's up?" but for some reason I thought it was the symbol for marijuana day? Then I checked it was 420 ![]()

Well looks like we both learnt something new then. Cuz I had to look up 420. Didn't have a clue marijuana day even existed ![]()

I thought you'd knew that! I think I learnt about this day from BZ as well! Laffy or Berno. haha ![]()
There's a day for everyone; supposedly there was a virgins day in December, there's also Pi day (March 14 obviously; I also checked wikipedia and it looks like the same day was named 'blow job day'), no bra day....
