The last series I saw was 'The Pacific', and it was at once educational, thoughtful, and (usually) entertaining. I read 'With the Old Breed' in college and the middle episodes were directly based off the book. It brought Sledge's journey to life and was historically accurate as well. A good value proposition.

^Excepting your good self I doubt many people would be riveted by an hour-long marketing consulting discussion passing itself off as "drama".For whatever reason viewers want to see these guys bedding their secretaries and getting drunk in bars and general human interaction, with the occasional nod to 'advertising'! Most TV dramas come down to that - strip away the zombies and The Walking Dead is just a soap opera about relationships...
I think that they could have really done it. Marketing consulting and entrepreneurial marketing is actually quite interesting. My ex used to work for Loreal and in brand management.
A good 1950s-1960s marketing story could be about GM and Women's fashions. Or about Ogilvy & Mather.

It's been three years or so since I've looked into Mad Men but I remember skimming through the series and just not getting very interested. I think one the themes was the social restrictions placed on women at the time as well as the theme of 'the Organizational Man'. The protagonist's wife was also an idler, mired in ignorance and dying of boredom...she did nothing all day and had a servant to ensure that she did nothing all day...
And I've spent too much time in offices to watch a series about offices...haha.
Is the show better now?

^I like those a lot - when my provider had FTV I used to tune in at 6pm to see if I could add anyone else to my wishlist!Do you guys watch the 'first look' fashiontv videos on youtube? I think they're great and add another dimension to all of it!
My favourite: Anouck Lepere... ![]()

Then maybe a spin-off where you solve crimes with blue eyes and a chainsaw...

^Have to say I've found the Stephen King I've read thus far a little turgid. Hence I've never gone so far as to invest in the Dark Tower series! You mentioned spin off comics in another thread and I was wondering if you knew anything about the comic spin off of The Stand or whether it was any good. I know I used to wish there was a comic spin off to the Dark Tower series, but then I found it so thorougly satisfying (especially Wizards and Glass) that I don't think it needs anything else
. I haven't read the stand on the other hand though.
So, I probably can't help you! ![]()
^Never saw The Pacific - but all I've heard (as with Band Of Brothers, another Baron-unwatched series) is good things. I suppose we can't watch everything...The last series I saw was 'The Pacific', and it was at once educational, thoughtful, and (usually) entertaining. You pretty much nailed it there! I'm not so far as series 4, having only just gotten into 3 - but a lot of it is repetition... Like I said though, I appreciate the aesthetics.

Band of brothers is better than the pacific, and has a lot of educational value too.
January Jones' character is gawd-damn annoying, isn't she?

You can have a recurring "guest star" role on our detective show.
Then maybe a spin-off where you solve crimes with blue eyes and a chainsaw...
You´d do that for me?
I´m not gonna give villains a damn chance

I love this blog. It's strangely satisfying :|

oh, social threadsGreat pics of Karlie... she has that "fierce" something in her, doesn´t she?
I like her frame very much. Her legs must be 36 or even 38' long. She's always the tallest among the models she's with :-)

Frida is quite charming, but it really irks me when people say "like" so oftenI've only watched a couple of those before. This one of Aymeline made me love her even more though, and speaking of accents..
Frida looks bad with glasses, doesn't she? Then she takes them off, and then she's beautiful...
here's Karlie

Do you know how tall is she?

Disagree! Unless you're talking about the ones at 0:52 ![]()
More often than not, girl + glasses = hot. I can't really put my finger on why either.. I mean there's the whole sexy bookish girl angle, but I think it's more than just that.
I didn't think Aymeline was your type ![]()

^Is this a new line in motivational posters Joe?!! ![]()
Actually "stoned" is not a bad look for Selita - it's certainly better than her usual repertoire (of one) "fake smile with cold, dead eyes"... ![]()
^Me too! It's absolutely karmic - thank you.I love this blog. It's strangely satisfying :|

Successful Round 1! ![]()
Did you get to see much Baron? There were some absolutely cracking games this weekend. Oh how I've missed the footy season :Dinah:

^Oh how very true!Found this one...
^Didn't watch any of the live games as it wasn't particularly practical with the time difference (I always try when Carlton are on though - although they weren't this weekendSuccessful Round 1!Did you get to see much Baron? You're not wrong about those results though, Collingwood losing being the pick of course! ![]()

I know PETA isn't going to like this, but I hear there's a chef in Buenos Aires that saved two of the native species from going extinct by creating a demand for their meat
. They say they would have otherwise been poached to death, but when he showed people that they tasted good, they started efforts to preserve them
. I think it was some kind of gator and some sabor tooth rabbit of some kind. That said, I'm really thinking about stopping by there one day. I hear they make some cow that will knock your socks off and that there's a place in particular with a guy that makes every part of it and that its some of the best meat in the world or something like that.

I'll try not drop any untimely spoilers as the season goes on ![]()
But yeah, a lot of exciting, tight games in Round 1, even though some of those ended up blowing out in the end. I think it's going to be another feverishly contested year with not a whole lot separating those trying to squeeze in the top 8. It also seems as though the umpires are pretty content to let the run of play continue longer than they've done in the past few years - giving away fewer soft/technical free kicks. I hope it stays that way :Dinah:

^Joe, are you forgetting what you to say to me? Or just not reading my painstakingly researched and crafted posts???I know PETA isn't going to like this, but I hear there's a chef in Buenos Aires that saved two of the native species from going extinct by creating a demand for their meat. They say they would have otherwise been poached to death, but when he showed people that they tasted good, they started efforts to preserve them

I saw that
but I wasn't really enticed by the idea that they ate a lot of meat but was moreso impressed by how good this one looked imparticular. Of course most notably the irony that animal rights activists say the only way to save animals is to not eat meat whereas this guy saved two species by creating a demand for their meat instead.

Anybody else miss Layla? I sure do ![]()
