I need to do a review of Naty's thread...also I'm looking forward to your Frida gallery!
I played the PC version of 'Metal Gear Solid' 10 years ago. I know that this is Sony's flagship franchise as well. So while MGS did go PC, I'm assuming from what you said that they never reverted and sold rights to those franchises. That's too bad for consumers, but it probably falls in line with the trap they set up of buying the console just for the franchise..
^Metal Gear is a little different. As you said there's been the odd title released on PC, and XBox consoles too (including the recent MGSV). Unfortunately there's been a lot of great Japanese games over the stretch that never see the light of day on PC.. they never seem to favour the platform for some reason. There seems to be a slight shift in this in recent times though.. I hope to see it continue.
Developers like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica (God of War), Sucker Punch (inFamous), etc are actually owned by Sony though - there's zero chance of them letting those franchises go. The exclusive games are a huge part of the war. It's exactly right that it draws consumers to the platform, and indeed why I ended up getting them some years after release. And as I said, it may well result in me springing for the new machines some time down the track, if there becomes a tipping point of too-good-to-miss exclusive games coming out.. remains to be seen. Sony IMO has always had much stronger franchises compared to Microsoft though. I like Gears of War, but Halo bores the shit out of me ![]()
Monika dead set looks like a mannequin here ![]()
You two are brilliant <3
So it looks to me that these goddesses also went outside for the photographers:

^^
I really need to find the backstage photos for that show... It was also pretty amazing and lots of top models were there.
I've been wowed by these two women as of late:

I find it ironic that Stef reminds me a lot of a less pretty Bregje, especially in some pics ![]()

The beautiful sister of BJ?? ![]()
Aha. I had thought of that here and there, but mostly not. I finished my full review of her: 242 pictures.
A few photos I like: Also, the picture of Anne includes her mom.
----------------
BTW: Frida and Monika were real life friends that often appeared together in fashion week. IIRC, they may have even been living together. Here is something I ran across: http://vsmodelspersonal.tumblr.com/tagged/jac-jagaciak So what do you think of Devon and Monika Jac?
-----------
I rewatched the 300 fights on youtube: Hilarious dejavu!
Yeah I noticed they appeared together a lot. They've even done some shoots together. Jac is cute but not beautiful.. and doesn't really have the 'it' factor for me. Admittedly she has a very sexy long torso, and looked fantastic in the VS beach candids I saw, however many months ago that was. Devon's not really my typeBTW: Frida and Monika were real life friends that often appeared together in fashion week. IIRC, they may have even been living together. Did you see episode 2 of Burial At Sea?

Guys, while on the subject of 'Metal Gear Solid', has anyone seen much of 'Ground Zeroes', the supposed prologue to MGS 5? I watched some of the footage on YouTube (I couldn't justify paying £30 for two hours of gameplay
) and I must say, Kiefer Sutherland taking over as the voice of Snake has left me pretty bemused. Obviously, David Hayter isn’t half the actor Sutherland is, but he had that uniquely cartoonish delivery, which was always well suited to Kojima’s weird, contrary style of writing. He got the material in a way Kiefer doesn’t seem to. ![]()

Jac is a perfect girl to me albeit not too exciting. She has perfect complexion and can model a great many things. She is so tall & delicate (and with a fairy tale face)- a human mannequin just as you said.
I have to admit that I am surprised that you aren't into her as I have always found her, Frida, and Marloes to be the best 'girly' beauties.

What a stunning pic, all three look amazing as blondes there

I've always loved Erin's body, but I found her face to be a bit dull... ![]()

Don,
Actually I don't see a resemblance. I can't think of anybody who looks like Jac, actually. As for Abbey, I have to say that I am surprised that you remembered. I don't think I have checked out Abbey's thread in a good two years or so. I think she fell off the map as far as modeling is concerned.
What do you think of Camile Rowe??
I think Jac reminds me too much of Abbey Lee Kershaw in the face, who I don't find attractive at all. I recall you saying you liked her at some stage - do you see a resemblance?
Still not sold really.. maybe not enough awesome editorial/campaign shots to win me over. All the pics she looks best in are the ones where she looks most like Bregje
![]()
I'd still like to see the next parts when you upload them. By the way, a bunch of the images in that gallery don't seem to load - not sure if it's just me.
+1 for Erin's body. The rest of her...
Denisa is quite nice
Unfortunately, i forgot to look for the rest.
I love Erin's physique; completely my type.

How are you, lindsay? :wub2:
I've always loved Erin's body, but I found her face to be a bit dull...
I liked her more after she got fired from VS. The VS swimsuit shoot above was one of the last things she did. As a VS angel, she was alarmingly thin (her ribs apparent from both sides) and her 15 pound weight gain made her look much better. I heard, like Hilary Rhoda.. that she's been trying to break into acting but I don't think she has a good actresses' face, character, or voice. As a VS angel, she often appeared to be the least enthusiastic one........She has a delicate model face, though.

I'm been reading 'From Don to the Dnepr: Soviet offensive operations '. I'm on act III now and I highly recommend it (with some supplementary study, of course).
This text seems to be esoteric and irrelevant to the modern world but in fact the things it discusses has tremendous historical, social, and political significance that is still influential today. Through the reading of these complex operations and their successes, failures, and subsequent reforms/development...you can get the sense of the birth of Soviet military power and how it developed the credibility it had on this earth. Through this painstaking process of mistakes, learning and reform...the Soviets countered German Blitzkrieg and learned a new way of war.
Generations of socialist and communist dictatorships learned from the Soviets. Modern Socialist dictatorships in Latin America/Asia and non-NATO Eastern European armies today still base many of their armed forces on soviet concepts ("The organization, operations, and strategy of Deep Battle") American professional soldiers are influenced by this as well, and a little known bit is that the 1991 Operation Desert Storm was named after a similar soviet operation that defeated 1.5 million Japanese troops just before the atom bombs were dropped...'August Storm'.
Act I of the book (military operational history) covers the successful but not unblemished Soviet 'Little Saturn' operation to destroy the Italians, Germans, and Romanians (at a tune of 110,000 casualties/pows inflicted in 12 days). Act II covers a very decisive period in WW2 history: The ultimately overextended Soviet offensive operations Gallop and Star.
Act III details the Soviet offensive in the southern flank of the Kursk Bulge. This would eventually lead to clearing of the reconquest of the Ukraine and the total loss of German offensive ability...and thus their war.

So i'm thinking that my new thread will fail? Is anybody interested??? The above could be a good first entry.

I probably wouldn't have made the connection without the teeth, but I see similarities beyond that. Jac is much prettier, but they are of the same 'type' as I see them.Don,

What do you think of Camile Rowe??
I'm not familiar with Camille.. but I did a quick search. She seems a bit on the plain side but has a pretty nice body (Julie Henderson syndrome?
) She's done a fair bit of nude modelling.
Really? They have very similar proportions, especially in the nose (wide) and lips (full, indent in the middle lower lip). They both have heavyish eyes that are also very similar, especially with little/no makeup. Their smiles and profiles are very different.Yeah, I don't see the resemblance here either! I would say that the shape of her face is a little similar but I don't think her features are. I uploaded part 2...
Minus is a bit weird like that. It doesn't upload certain file formats for some reason. What's wrong with Erin's face? The nose job
?
I starting doing Denise but I stopped; Eniko is better and more interesting IMO... Denise a model's model. She reminds me of Anja Rubik except she's expressionless most of the time...
I didn't know Erin had a nose job ![]()
There's nothing 'wrong' with her face per se, but to me she's the epitome of the all-American boring blonde. When I look at her I see Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Barbie, ...
Nothing interesting or unique, and therefore appealing.

^Erins body is on point

How are you, lindsay? :wub2:
I'm good thanks. Not much going on still, just chillin ![]()
In terms of Erin....I used to find her boring until I kinda opened my eyes to her look, and I kinda had an epiphony, that also made me like Lindsay Ellingson. And all of a sudden I saw it lol
And I can't quite pinpoint what it is I like about her..but its something thats just simply sweet. I also began to like Lindsay Ellingson, whom I found kinda boring before too. Erin is like donbot said kinda normal looking, but something kinda shines within her. Her body is banging too, especailly as of late ![]()
Oh and yeah, she most certainly got a nose job ![]()

So why didn't you try the sequels?
Youtube has all the cutscenes from 2, 3, 4...and they are between 5 to 8 hours long!
I remember trying to watch MGS4 on youtube but I found it so long that I just read the summary and skipped around. They look like 20+ hour games to me.
Besides the other things, Kojima's Metal Gear the only modern media I have ever seen that communicates the Japanese and German warrior philosophy. This was purged from their culture after they lost the war. This philosophy is right behind all his spectacles. That is what is unique about his stories about PMCs, Government conspiracies, secret societies, global government, and so forth.
Ernst Junger's "Storm of Steel' is the easiest way to understand what it is. There are people in this world that are not brutalized by war, but rather embrace it as...in Junger's words- 'a good, strenuous way of life' that has meaning. Reminds you of Metal Gear, no? ![]()
Found a PDF of the book: http://nazbol.net/library/authors/Ernst%20Junger/Ernst_Junger%20-%20Storm_of_Steel.pdf
I don't remember all the characters, but my favorite were:
- Big Boss, Solid Snake, the original cyborg Ninja, the native american with the minigun, Sniper Wolf, Liquid Snake, Psycho Mantis. I still prefer the original one.
MGS was my favourite game in the PS1 era - I played it through a number of times. It was so cinematic, exciting, innovative and creative. I loved Yoji Shinkawa's artwork that went along with it too - still do. The first sequels came out while I was having a bit of a hiatus from gaming, and I didn't feel like wanting to jump into 4 without playing through 2 and 3. MGS remains the only Metal Gear game I've played until Revengeance recently, which is something of a spin-off from the Solid series. I had intended to go back and play through 2-4 (and now 5 I guess), and in fact I did start 2 a while back but I never really got traction with it
Agreed about Keifer - more often than not it strikes me as odd to hear a well known actor in a video game. Especially one who as you said has such a strongly established identity with an on-screen character already. I remember Keifer had a role (not the protagonist though) in a Call of Duty game some years ago, and it didn't sit right then either. Sometimes this works out well though, when there's a synergy with the actor and character - good example is Jack Black in Brutal Legend.
Revengeance incidentally was lots of fun. Things like the story and voice acting are a little.. laughable shall we say, but the game really shines in the combat system, and particularly in the character/enemy design.
I have a lot of Camille Rowe thanks to a lucky download. I noticed her due to her Free People shoot with Sarah Holt but otherwise had ignored her thread until now. She isn't half bad- she knows how to pose and she has a good backside
. Her VS posing reminds me of Candice.....and she looks very much like Behati's sister. ![]()
BTW, Julia Stegner is pregnant. Currently I am doing Eniko full review.
I probably wouldn't have made the connection without the teeth, but I see similarities beyond that. Jac is much prettier, but they are of the same 'type' as I see them.

With All American boring blonde- I usually think of hollywood, TV, glamour models, and celebrities that are personalities rather than fashion models. Hanna Davis from SI is very much a boring blonde to me. So are the actresses. They don't have the proportions, classy looks, or the delicate facial features to be a good editorial or runway model.
There are however, a ton of blonde fashion models that look interchangeable with each other. Funnily enough, I suspect that eastern european blondes have the edge, as they usually don't have the narrow, long face w/slight cheekbones that Western/northern Europeans have. Western eyes are used to a certain faces. So these women become more 'exotic'...hah, like Maryna or Eva.

I suppose nobody is interested in 'nonfiction books thread?

If any game in the series does put you off powering through the whole Metal Gear saga, it’s sure to be MGS2. In a weird way, it's a bit of a gem (albeit a flawed one), but you just knew when the brutally uncompromising and occasionally trippy narrative (some of which would probably make you question Kojima’s sanity) began to take hold that it was never going to be everyone's cup of tea. Which is a shame really, because some of the stuff in it, and in the subsequent games was genuinely up there with the PS1 original.
Particularly 'Act 4' of MGS 4 - I've never been big on nostalgia, but seeing Shadow Moses again touched me in a way no game has ever done before. Walking (well, sneaking) through the abandoned parts were so haunting, it genuinely made me want to cry a little bit. ![]()

Does this have to do with the fact that Lindsay and Erin kind of relate to you? Being a tall blonde yourself...
Lindsay has a superb figure but I get bored seeing her modeling (which is mostly VS). This is one of the few that I've saved of her:
I'm good thanks. Not much going on still, just chillin

I'm into Camile Rowe as of late and finished her review. I will be posting it soon
At only 5' 7'' she is among the shortest models but is not a genetic anomaly in terms of looks. I find her attractive in a feline sort of way....she also looks like Behati's smaller sister..
I also like Nadine Leopold quite a bit. How about you?

What did you think of MGS3? I found an artwork that sums it up...:
If any game in the series does put you off powering through the whole Metal Gear saga, it’s sure to be MGS2. Yeah, I personally found that the MGS stories fell apart. MGS3 had a better story than 2 and 4. (although not as good as MGS) MGS4 seemed to tie in the characters from the first 3 a lot and there was a heavy exploit of nostalgia and finality.
Also, I remember thinking that the original MGS was most easily Americanized and adaptable to film format.

Currently, I'm anticipating the release of:
Endgame at Stalingrad: Book Two: December 1942 January 1943 The Stalingrad Trilogy, Volume 3

Oddly enough, although I still remember it very fondly, MGS3 is the only one in the series that I never went back to after completing. In many ways, it was the absolute antithesis of MGS2; it's unsettling, creative and ambitious, and really involves the player, with tons of hands-on stuff and a firmer grounding in reality. I liked the emphasis on camouflage and surviving by foraging for useful items, and it was packed with genuinely scary moments and memorable boss fights. I remember fighting The End for two hours once, during which time I honestly thought my game was broken, and the sequence where The Sorrow (whose face was supposedly a distorted version of Kojima's
) brings everyone you've previously killed back from the dead to attack you was such a gloriously creepy way to lead into the main battle. Only real criticism is of the much-vaunted close-quarters combat system, which felt shoehorned into the gameplay somewhat. Had it been executed better, the game would have been virtually perfect.
Also loved every minute of MGS4, even if it slightly lacks the cohesiveness of the previous titles. Those much-maligned and colossal cutscenes we saw in MGS2 are back in force, only this time it's because the game represents the end of Solid Snake's story, and thus every loose end they created in the previous games had to be tied up. As a stand alone and fully realised title, the first game is of course difficult to beat; as an adventure to slot into an ongoing saga, I actually found the fourth game most satisfying. It was just so packed with history and evocative moments (and, as you say, finality) that as a long time fan I couldn't help but be awestruck.
All of which is why I'm a little bit worried about this upcoming fifth game. It's a real struggle to think how you could end a series more definitively than MGS4 did. ![]()
