^Interesting, I wouldn't put Toni in that category. I suppose she has a bit of a square jaw going on, but I think she holds it well - it's similar to Edita's in that regard. I find her very pretty, and she's got an exceptionally beautiful smile. That said, she's never really drawn me in to follow her.. maybe one day she'll 'click' like Frida did <_<
Magda, no I've never really liked her. I love Carola Remer though, who I think has quite a similar and unusual facial structure. Any thoughts on her?
Candice Swanepoel you mean? I adore her, but I always go through long lapses of not following her. I suppose her thread is a bit of a turn-off
And good as she looks in the endless array of VS pics, her interesting work is too few and far between.
Toni's hair line and forehead is actually quite masculine looking to me. In fact, her palette is a bit similar to mine, but I'm a man.........
Her height (Karlie ish) and special physical structure give me the impression of a 'thin' amazon. Still like her a lot, though. Her body is remarkable and rare. Carol Remer? Not my type ![]()
I wonder how many repetitive VS photos has Candice shot and floated online? I know it's definitely in the 5 figures.
So I typed in "Toni" on my Hard Drive and this is what I found. It is always good to revisit Toni... :

I think Candice looks better now (as in roughly the last 6-9 months) than she has in a very long while.
Probably all the way back to her very first VSFS.
SS,
I personally find Candice to be one of the most consistent VS models. She always looks around the same to me for some reason...
I do know that she was different starting out, though. I have seen her first Polas with her agency and she was different, still. Her hair was dark, for one. Maybe you and Lindsay know something that I don't....
OooOooo thanks Cult for the Edita picture download link!!
When I get home I'll try to download it!

You know, I took a look at MGS2 story again after many years and I have to say that outside of the double, triple, and quadruple crossing in the end (and other convenient gimmicks), it holds up remarkably well. It's an original contextual concept for the medium.
This conversation between the AI Global Government and Jack is some of the best writing of MGS2. This is the 12 minute mind*uck of the story to be blunt. The statements, individually, have brevity but also a lot of depth. This is very much written in the early 2000s and the discussion of the dynamics of the information economy is thought provoking especially right now. Of course, much is cribbed from 'The Selfish Gene' and 'The world ends not with a bang, but a whimper' is taken from TS Eliot's poem, :"The Hollow Men". Other inspirations, I believe, can be found by looking at philosophy and commentary by social commentators about how the technology influences people. The contrarian commentary, like those from neuroscientists that are expressed in like the media blitz/book 'The Shallows', move away from the celebration of modern interfaces to criticism at how it erodes certain human capacities and even human freedoms.
Since we are posting on an internet forum, the following should have even more relevance: It really applies to all forms of media ![]()

-What we propose is not to create content, but create context.

- Just like in genetics, unnecessary information and memory must be filtered out to stimulate the evolution of the species. Who else could wade through the sea of garbage you people produce, retrieve valuable truths and even interpret their meaning for later generations? That’s what it means to create context.
-You lack the necessary qualifications to exercise free will!
-The Age of digitized information has given even more power to the individual. Too much information for an immature species. Building a legacy involves figuring out what is wanted, and what needs to be done for that goal.

In retrospect, I believe that the selection of an effeminate, naive character like Raiden (the game narrative is essentially that of endless nightmare of a clueless, useful idiot) was a correct decision. He was definitely an anime cliche' but his confusion and childishness fit the mindf*ck. I noticed that all the characters in the game refer to Raiden as 'boy'. ![]()
Kojima would not have developed his concept as well with the veteran Solid Snake. It is interesting.
Yeah, the 'bait and switch' nature of his role in MGS2 led to Raiden becoming quite the whipping boy amongst fans, many of whom refused to accept him as a new protagonist. The character was a lot more interesting by the time he appeared in the fourth game, but he was always a bit of an anime cliche. Rumour was that Kojima's preference for the lead character in 'Revengeance' was Gray Fox/The Ninja, but since he didn't have enough time to write the script or really commit to the creation of the game, he let the younger members of his development team take control, and they chose Raiden as the central figure instead. A logical extension of his MGS4 self, I suppose, since he got up to all manner of hacking and slashing during the cutscenes.
It does indeed sound like that's where they're going with it, although they're still not giving much away at the moment. A storyline in which Snake makes the emotional transition to the 'evil' Big Boss as he partakes in a quest for revenge should be relatively easy to get right, although I'm still a bit concerned about Kiefer Sutherland doing his voice.
I haven't seen those ones, but I always loved the artwork style of the first game. Even now, when I see it, it brings back memories of playing on my old PS1.
I saw a bit of "Revengeance" (whatever that means....haha) and the Raiden here is really quite...emo and not likeable.
As far as MGS5 goes, It looks like it's Kojima's intent to make the audience despise Big Boss so it will be interesting to see how he'll do it.
Kiefer Sutherland's voice acting is probably very expensive. I noticed in watching 'Ground Zeroes' that he barely talks at all. As a voice actor, however, I think he's better than the other guy but Kiefer is really very typecasted by 24. I hear that voice and I do not fit that voice with the persona of Big Boss.
Do you know of the chances of the rights being sold to make a MGS film?
Thank you so much for these links!! It makes hoarding all my favourite women much easier

Speaking of "A List" actors bobbing up in games, the new COD released a thing a couple of weeks ago revealing Kevin Spacey's voice/likeness in the upcoming gameKiefer Sutherland's voice acting is probably very expensive. A brilliant observation, and one that should probably be copied and pasted across all forums where the merits of MGS2 are discussed. Seriously, if Kojima had only come out and said that at the time, it may have shut the naysayers up forever. ![]()

Yeah, the possibility of an MGS film was being touted as far back as the PS1 game's initial run, but I believe all development was halted a few years ago when a stalemate occured between Kojima and Sony (at least, I think it was Sony
) over the direction of the script. Understandably, Kojima is said to be rather protective of the property and also acutely aware that movies based on games rarely offer quality and critically acclaimed end products.
Overall, I think there's good reason why people hold video game adaptations in such contempt these days, since the vast majority either show total disregard for the source material or completely misunderstand it. I don't necessarily think it'll always be that way though. Comic book movies were still something of a Hollywood punchline until recently, but there's been a big step up in quality from the dreadful likes of Catwoman and Daredevil (which are both still only about ten years old) to the more up to date fare of Captain America, Avengers and the Dark Knight. Maybe in another decade or so, video game adaptations will start to follow suit.

So have you ever heard of Lily McMenamy? What are your thoughts?
As in Kristen McMenamy's daughter? Oh, I'm old. ![]()

I can understand how players did not want to play as the boyish Raiden, though...:-p but it is also clear to me that the nature of the four hour (?) long narrative required someone green and confused like Raiden. This leads me to think that an alternate and more accessible character (backlash free) could have been created.
A brilliant observation, and one that should probably be copied and pasted across all forums where the merits of MGS2 are discussed. Seriously, if Kojima had only come out and said that at the time, it may have shut the naysayers up forever.

Ah yes I know these girls. (More familiar with Charlene, Maritza and Sanna B though)
The other is Terese Pagh right?. heard of her but dont pay attention to her. But yes they all look alot alike, which is why none of them are among my fav newbies. A model needs to really stick out on her own before I really like her. Take for example Ola Rudnicka, she's another pale, skinny, light blonde... however I recognize her right away with no problem. Probably due to her eyes and forehead.
Anyways between the 3, I'd say Backstrom is the prettiest.
However, i'd say Charlene has the more prestigious career, what with all her top notch runway appearances last season. ![]()

This conversation actually reminds me of a thread idea. When I get around to it, I'll compile face shots of all my favorite models and place them next to each other. Others can do the same, and maybe we can discern patterns as to what we're attracted to.
I know, for instance, that I like a lot of Dutch, Brazilian, Baltic, and eastern european top models.
What kind of models do you like?
That's the Ola I spoke of....
Now to a different model..........
Who does she remind you of? If you know her name, don't look at her thread because I say there who she reminds me of and I wanna know if she reminds you of the same model.
She reminds me of Polina Kouklina :-D
Currently, I'm into Lais Navarro and Rianne ten Haken. And maybe Paulina, later. <3 How about you? ![]()

As in Kristen McMenamy's daughter? Oh, I'm old.So have you ever heard of Lily McMenamy? What are your thoughts?
![]()
Yup that's her daughter! What are your thoughts?
You know how in video games like Street Fighter and Tekken, you reach a particular point and have to fight against an evil, dark version of yourself? Lily McMenamy could be the dark Daphne Groeneveld. ![]()
There's certainly something quite interesting about her, though. The best thing about Kristen was that she had (and probably still has) that really angular face, which was always great for edgy editorial work. Lily clearly hasn't inherited that, but she does have a similarly provocative and confrontational kind of look. She seems to look better in motion than in stills, too. Overall, I'm on the fence until I see more. ![]()

That is interesting to hear. The problem with releasing rights is the fact that Kojima himself may be sacrificing control of this intellectual property and it would not do him well if Metal Gear became commodified without benefiting him and his associations. (as it would if it became a mainstream hollywood film). He has turned himself into a rockstar of sorts.
I suppose so. He's certainly reached a point in his career where he'll be indulged, regardless of how wacky or excessive his output becomes. I was surprised to recently read that he's 50 now, he looks at least ten years younger than that to me. Perhaps he's invented those nanomachines for real. ![]()
Did you hear, the new trailer for 'Phantom Pain' just debuted at the E3 2014 press conference. There's nothing in the way of gameplay footage, but it looks very cinematic. ![]()

Here are three amazing top models that did many good editorials.
I revisit the VS fashion show at least once a year, and thanks to French kiki <3 I found a new source with stage shots that was previously unknown to me. The VS fashion shows, particularly 2003 to 2007/2008 were a brief moment of paradise.
I am probably going to do Gemma Ward, AnaBB, and other early-mid 2000s (editorial review) models next.
