MGS3 looks directly inspired by jungle survival and the long range special operations done in Southeast Asia by MACV-SOG and LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrols).

The new game, Metal Gear Kiefer Sutherland ,looks to be a prequel of Metal Gear.  I checked the wikia and the chronology seems to take place right in the Mid 1980s to Mid 1990s.  I think that Metal Gear Solid 4 represents the 'end' of metal gear, and Kojima is otherwise going to move backward in time.

http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Big_Boss

That being seen, will there been a Metal Gear Solid 6?  He would really have to start from scratch or practically re-make the the Metal Gears from the 1980s up to Metal Gear Solid.  But the problem with using the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s...there is limited room for futurist vision making.  In order to preserve continuity, the technologies available would necessarily be more primitive than the materials in MGS4.

Can he keep his empire and franchise fresh? That'll be interesting to see in coming years.

Kojima is always saying he wants to make a game about The Boss, so that will probably happen one day. I think if I could have my ultimate pick for the direction of MGS6, it would indeed be a reimagining of the old Metal Gear 1 & 2. To pick up after the events of MGS4 would be doing the previous game a massive disservice, it was such an ideal way to draw the series to a close, and the prequel storyline and the Solid Snake storyline are beginning to converge so much that it would make sense to bring everything full circle. Only a tiny minority of fans would have played the original NES games, and I can't help thinking what great fun it would be to see a Big Boss-Solid Snake showdown.

P.S. Andy, we need you in the 'Guess The Movie Screenshot' thread!

Apparently, wearing a bandana, an eyepatch, and possessing a cyborg arm makes everyone immediately cool in the MGS world.....!

I have to admit that I haven't thought about Metal Gear in years so I checked the youtube ending for MGS2 and MGS4 again and my memories came back.  I also saw the MGS5 trailer and it appears to me that the game does take a tour of the Soviet-Afghan war.  There are Soviet paratroopers in the trailer and it overall looks a lot more interesting than the prologue.  Also, I believe the rock star boy is a boy Liquid.

I realize now what MGS5 is:  It's a darth vader sort of story that shows Big Boss transforming from a hero to a megalomaniac villain (or anti hero?).

----------------------------

And as far as the three snakes... wow, I just realized that he really, really cribs off Richard Dawkins and his book on genes/evolutionary psychology- "The Selfish Gene" a hell of a lot.  Jennka would like that...

As far as evolutionary psychology goes (Selfish Gene), the snakes fit Dawkin's archetypes about human & animal genetic programming in one of his chapters.

Liquid is the 'genetically fittest' version, blonde/blue eyed for sexual attraction, sexualized, volatile, muscular, outspoken, greedy, and rock-star ish who will breed prodigiously but die young due to his violence.

Solid is the opposite genetic type that plays into Dawkin's opposite form :  Drab, calm, quiet, humble, altruistic, dark, and selfless,  He may live the longest and inherit the earth but his genes are less likely to live on to the extent of the first.  However, he can live on in the form of what Dawkins call 'memes'  (another word for 'impact' ) and have a mortality based on his accomplishments.  He is the tortoise to Liquid's hare.

Solidus is an exact clone of Big Boss, and his ruthlessness, megalomania and heroism show what he is and what Big Boss in MGS5 is to become.

I actually like Solidus the most and even more than Liquid.  The revelation in the end of MGS2- where Solidus talks of how he is motivated by "Proof of [my] existence, a mark of some sort...," I want to be remember by other people, by history"  "And will become, the son of liberty!" is exactly the spirit of a true soldier and the genetic meme-replicator.   This is the unusual message that I was talking about.   True soldiers, are nearly all students  of history, and they seek to live on as a part of the wheel of history and as part of an impact.  They internalize this to the point where they are willing to give their lives away for an idea.  Likewise, people toil their lives away for other ideas in their own professions, and also fulfill a similar function in death.

I can see that coming, now.  That could be Metal Gear Solid 6 or 7-  a reproduction of the original metal gear 1 and 2.

I never found 'The Boss' that compelling or believable, although I liked the design of her physical form as a tall, Valkyrie like middle aged woman.  Is she well liked?

Another question: Raiden and Solid Snake are 'Useful Idiots', so what is Big Boss in MGS3?  Also a 'useful idiot' or a patriot?

Thanks.

Do you like Karlie?  I thought she wasn't your thing..

Good point.  The first one I can think of is the legendary mercenary and warrior symbol, Götz von Berlichingen.  Germanic military units were named after him even centuries after his passing.  They too, bore the emblem of the prosthetic iron arm:

post-40981-0-13084700-1399244301_thumb.jpost-40981-0-23054300-1399244302_thumb.jpost-40981-0-71009700-1399244304_thumb.j

Haha, then there's Snake plisskin from 'Escape from New York'............  So Big Boss has all the "Street cred" now:  1. Scarface 2. Eyepatch 3. Bandanna 4. artificial arm. 5.  Chain smoking, cigars  6. The egghead from 24...

But Master Miller, who stole his dress-code from the Colonel from Apocalypse Now,  is going to one-up him in toughness and is going to be missing an entire arm and a foot....

Although I never really got the impression that she was hugely popular, the prospect of giving The Boss her own game did seem to go down well amongst the fans. She's often touted as being one of the strongest female characters in gaming, and to the best of my knowledge, it would be unique to see a 'hardcore' game with a middle-aged woman (though I suppose they could quite easily make her younger, as according to her backstory she took part in everything from World War II to the 'Space Race') as its protagonist. I certainly remember thinking at the time that she stood out from the rest somewhat, was underutilised in MGS3's storyline, and that it would be a shame not to see more of her (and to learn where 'that' scar really came from). The sheer volume of history the character could bring to the canon would be really rather insane, especially in a greatly expanded role.

Whether it would be possible to justifiably include the name 'Metal Gear' in a prequel starring The Boss, I'm not sure. I believe the 'Shagohod' tank from MGS3 was meant to be the first Metal Gear-related invention, unless that Russian doctor guy developed a weapon preceding it and never told anyone about it. Probably best just to let Kojima worry about that kind of stuff, it wouldn't be a Metal Gear game without a long, drawn-out storyline that left you scratching your head afterwards.

Yeah, in MGS3 he was basically just a loyal and very capable soldier who followed his orders to the letter. Somewhere between the events of MGS3 and MGS1, he supposedly found out he'd been used by 'The Patriots', became radicalised, built an army of mercenaries and basically threatened to nuke the world. All of which I'm really hoping for 'Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes' to explore. By the looks of things, it might.

About The Boss: That sounds interesting and there's a lot that can be done with her.  The worst main character was Raiden from MGS2/MGS4- He was completely unnecessary.

The Patriots,- the global government and their agent Skull face are the ones who sink Big Boss' ship.  Also, in the prologue, is it mentioned that he already has a nuclear weapon. This is presumably lost  MGS5 is supposed to be Big Boss' journey to the dark side and how he rebuilds his private military company.  He is motivated by revenge against The Patriots.

No, she's not really. There's something to be said for her long and athletic body - that picture I quoted shows it off magnificently. From what I've seen here and there she's a good model with some interesting work behind her too, but there's something in particular about her face that's really unappealing to me.

I didn't find it explosive: I found it meaningless and a waste.  However, it highlights certain dynamics between the relations of posters that I am usually apt to ignore.

I feel the same way about Toni Garrn.  She looks nice enough and she has an outstanding physical structure, but her face palette is big for a woman and more resembles that of a man.

Magdalena is also another great model that's exotic and sometimes gives mixed feelings (she's gorgeous but also pretty odd).  You're not a fan of them, right?

How about Candice?

^Interesting, I wouldn't put Toni in that category. I suppose she has a bit of a square jaw going on, but I think she holds it well - it's similar to Edita's in that regard. I find her very pretty, and she's got an exceptionally beautiful smile. That said, she's never really drawn me in to follow her.. maybe one day she'll 'click' like Frida did <_<

Magda, no I've never really liked her. I love Carola Remer though, who I think has quite a similar and unusual facial structure. Any thoughts on her?

Candice Swanepoel you mean? I adore her, but I always go through long lapses of not following her. I suppose her thread is a bit of a turn-off And good as she looks in the endless array of VS pics, her interesting work is too few and far between.

I think Candice looks better now (as in roughly the last 6-9 months) than she has in a very long while.

Probably all the way back to her very first VSFS.

Yeah, the 'bait and switch' nature of his role in MGS2 led to Raiden becoming quite the whipping boy amongst fans, many of whom refused to accept him as a new protagonist. The character was a lot more interesting by the time he appeared in the fourth game, but he was always a bit of an anime cliche. Rumour was that Kojima's preference for the lead character in 'Revengeance' was Gray Fox/The Ninja, but since he didn't have enough time to write the script or really commit to the creation of the game, he let the younger members of his development team take control, and they chose Raiden as the central figure instead. A logical extension of his MGS4 self, I suppose, since he got up to all manner of hacking and slashing during the cutscenes.

It does indeed sound like that's where they're going with it, although they're still not giving much away at the moment. A storyline in which Snake makes the emotional transition to the 'evil' Big Boss as he partakes in a quest for revenge should be relatively easy to get right, although I'm still a bit concerned about Kiefer Sutherland doing his voice.

I haven't seen those ones, but I always loved the artwork style of the first game. Even now, when I see it, it brings back memories of playing on my old PS1.

Thanks to the magic of the internet, I have a lot of downloadable top model collection files that I am going to post on members forums.  These files are between 1,600 to 200 pictures.  They were not compiled by me but I feel like that they are well worth sharing.  I am not going to host them in my junkyard.

I'm going post the links later when I have time to copy them.

Meanwhile, here are some amazing Sports Illustrated gems I found in Hilary's collection.  Even though I made a full career review myself,.... this hero found photos that I never saw before!

I actually have not noticed anything different.  Thinner?  I have tons of candice behind the scenes VS galleries and I like that better than the final product..:-p

Jourdan Dunn:  Unfortunately, nay.   She looks a bit like Joan Smalls, and I gravitate to Joan much more.

In terms of Candice, I feel like something has been kinda off about her within the past couple of months.....not in a bad way, just different. Like her jaw looks squarer, chin looks larger....or her teeth look bigger...or something Maybe its just me

Did you find something you like in these galleries?  I am grateful for the supers as normally it is a pain to trawl threads and the internet to build up a gallery. Most links tend to be dead already, or low rez.
