You know W,
When I said that institutions shelter and distort reality, It's the case everywhere with a roof on top. So it's more or less, and not just in American secondary schools..
One just has to dive deeper and figure it out... ![]()
I didn't expect it to be really like 'in the movies'
Must be weird to attend, I think.
Hmm, I should give Motorcycle Diaries a try then!

I was surprised to read that Kati debuted not a long time ago, because being 20 is already considered 'too late' to start. That's too bad, it's not like Kati looks ancient next to teen models...? I think it would be more beneficial to have more 20-something models out there. They are already pretty independent as individuals, they are past body changes of adolescence and it's not weird when they are advertising clothes for non-teens
Kati looks her age. You know, I agree with you. I'd prefer if designers and gatekeepers would deem it so good models could stay on longer. Women can still model into their 30s. I don't think a great model must become a sub par one at 35
I am sad and I am not, at the same time. I am happy it ended because 6 seasons is enough (I think there could be less, to be honest, given how storylines got worse over past few years) and the actors will be able to move on to other projects. I am curious to see how Leighton, Blake, Chace, Penn and Ed's careers will be.With actors and actresses, as I have seen it's difficult and subject to fashion. They're at the bottom of the rung just like models are in their trade. So Leighton is your favorite?
Blake Lively was one of the reasons why I found BZ. I thought her attractive, and liked her taste in clothing. But then I started getting into real fashion models, and I no longer felt the desire to visit her thread....
With Leighton, she needs to pick better projects. Blake is already aiming at A-list films and co-stars, even for small roles. She definitely knows her game, as laineygossip.com mentions all the timePenn Badgley is in Jeff Buckley movie and I wish he would record and release a few songs. I saw a clip of him singing "Brown Sugar" and I was surprised as to how good he sounded. Well, his almost father-in-law
is Lenny Kravitz so who knows, maybe they'll record something together
I wish. I am surprised Chace Crawford doesn't have anything notable besides GG, yes, he is not a good actor but I feel like there's always need for 'pretty boys' types. And he's slowly heading to his 30s so I guess he hasn't used his opportunities properly or maybe his drug problem is really bigger than we think it is. Ed Westwick, he's in new "Romeo and Juliet" but I don't think he'll make it to the A-list stardom. But you never know. It will be interesting to see what projects they choose
"Gossip Girl" is the only American series I have seen every episode of. I enjoyed first 2 seasons a lot, the other 4 had their moments but weren't as good as the first ones. I have my favourite scenes and quotes from the show...
Do you like the setting of that show? or are you more interested in the drama.

I can't really work out if I'd have enjoyed it more or less, if I didn't have such fondness for 90s version. Regardless, I enjoyed the few cheeky nods to the original they included. It had its share of idiocy and plot holes, but it made up for it with some pretty good action, and more so in the wonderful design/visuals - really the best part about it.
I still don't feel the attraction for Kate Beckinsale at all. I'm all about the Biel - damn she looked good ![]()

She's got amazing long legs, nice hair (most of the times), infectuous laugh... there's something about her eyes I don't like. To me, none of the features of her face is striking
she proudly admits she doesn't have a stylist but with interest in fashion and such body who needs it, anyway

I agree...shes got beautiful long legs, gorgeous hair, and nice teeth, but her face is just...nothing super special? Almost kinda masculene? I love her fashion sense though

I sort of like Poppy Delevingne/Blake for the reasons you put. For normal people standards, they're beautiful but among high fashion models, they're more typical and I don't think Blake would make the cut. For instance, once I discovered Julia Stegner I kind of forgot about Blake........
I also like Blake/Poppy's physical stature, long/straight blond hair, and how both look & dress like the archetypal socialite.
If I ever visit New York I want to go to many of the places those characters didDrama was good in first 2 seasons, then it became more and more ridiculous but that didn't stop me from watching. So depending on the season and episode, I'd say it was combination of many things. Sometimes the plot was interesting, sometimes it was all about fashion and make-up, guest stars, locations... and well, the cast was attractive visually, so many good-looking people to oogle

So I can see that there's some value as it's kind of tour of life as a silver-spooned manhattanite. Would you want to live there? ![]()
why do you like leighton? ![]()

How can I know? I've never been there
I like the place I live in and I don't think I am eager to move anywhere, at least not anytime soon. Sure, I'd love to visit other cities and I know that there are several cities which are better to live in than Warsaw. That doesn't mean that I am determined to stay in Poland my whole life, but it all depend son circumstances... if I had a husband who got an awesome job opportunity abroad I'd probably move with him. Or if I was the one with an interesting opportunity...
You know it's not just cities, there are many good idyllic counties & towns connected to New York, where several million live in such peace and prosperity that's disproportionate to the rest of the nation, let alone the rest of the world.
So in watching this show, you have no feeling of longing? I've never seen it, but I suppose that the show's schedule of affairs are highly exaggerated and 'historically' (lol) inaccurate for dramatic purposes but really, would you like to live in the Upper East Side with a rich man that loves you unconditionally or an absolutely devoted best of best friend... and if only for a year? You wouldn't have to go to work every morning and on any day of the week, you have access to many of the best environmental and artistic pleasures & company with (often) highly eclectic people that are so wealthy and free that their pursuits are limited only by their own creativity. Tis' the nature of privileged.
I've always surmised that Gossip Girl fulfilled a sense of excitement and longing during a pivotal time in a girl's life.
Why do I like Leighton? First, when I started watching the series I was amazed at her acting. She wasn't supposed to be the main star of "Gossip Girl" but soon turned out she's much more interesting than Serena (Blake Lively). I like that she's always playing with her red carpet style... not always with success, but she's having fun! She's incredibly pretty in my opinion and the polar opposite of Blair. Meester seems like a very humble person, I enjoy reading interviews with her because to me it seems like she always has something interesting to say. It is said she's also one of the nicest actresses. And she's an Aries. You can't go wrong with Aries![]()
You're humble too, aren't you? Just like her. And you hold no malice to anything. ![]()
How about Kate in that trash film Pearl Harbor?
btw, I can say for a certainly that:
Last of the Mohicans (1992)
Apocolypto (2006)
are must-sees.

Donny, a brief note. These might help you: ![]()

Eh I'm a city girl though. Can't imagine living in a village, or even suburbs. But have you? You live in the suburbs to escape from the noise and re-assert your individuality
The noise infiltrates you even when you don't want it to when you're in the city, and you unconsciously let the noise shape you. Don't you think?
Yes, for example, Nate (Chace Crawford) grandfather's surname is Van Der Bilt. I think I read somewhere that real Vanderbilts weren't happy about that, but maybe it was just a rumour
That's funny, because the Vanderbilts are very much 'old' money, and so old that they aren't even considered major capitalist players anymore. If they are still on the list of the top 500 families in America, they would rank on the low end. But the name, 'Vanderbilt' is very much built into history, so people still know that name even though its significance has faded.
The hollywood & media rich ala Tom Cruise are more well known, but the truth of the matter is; they aren't really that rich or important. They just can attract attention. These guys are no more significant than football & basketball players. Wage earners that profit off of an inelastic supply curve..
I think life without job of any sort becomes boring quickly. On one hand, I think it is wonderful to 'not have to work', aka have this financial security. But to do 'nothing'? Shopping and partying every day is not my idea for 'exciting'. At least not for more than a weekBelieve me, those real ultra-rich girls don't do nothing. They do quite a lot, and can do this precisely because they are rich...
Being a socialite is actually quite a lot of work and excitement, and many get interested in design, traveling, the arts, and expensive sporting. It's about being able to choose where and when to work......they have goals just like you do.
Doesn't matter anyway, you wouldn't get bored.
The first 2 seasons could make one dreaming about being very rich and high-class and attending all the places the characters do but in my opinion, it also showed how unhappy they really are. All of the characters have their issues (then again, who doesn't?) that couldn't be solved with their wealth.Yes, it's all a matter of perspective. Everybody suffers from not being able to grasp it, until it's too late. And everybody wants something more..whether physical or intangible. That catchphrase 'hardship builds character'...as I see it, as more to do with the fact that when one endures great trial, they are more prone to put more of their thinking inwards instead of outwards and thus strengthen themselves as individuals. But this catchphrase is flawed, as one is developed enough, the trial doesn't resemble turmoil in the first place...
Am I? Maybeif I am, then definitely not as humble as she is. You are right about no malice, in fact it's probably one of the worst traits a person can have-maliciousness. Can't stand it and try to steer away from people who have it.
I think you are. I've never seen you write a foul word, ridicule, or engage in an argument/debate ever since I joined BZ.
That is rather modest of you. In my mind, you prefer to adapt around confrontation rather than face it directly. Is this the case? Are you a little quiet?

This one:
V #80 Winter 2012
Title: All Hail Couture
Photographer: Karim Sadli
Stylist: Beat Bolliger
Hair: Damien Boissinot
Make-Up: Yadim
This is one of my favorite sets of her even though it's B&W and, unfortunately, because it's in B&W. The bags under her eyes and her dimples are airbrushed away and her stare isn't so hard. Regardless, I really like her stature, and it reminds me of Karlie's.
A. has a beautiful neck, collarbones, and shoulders. ![]()
I haven't seen either of those others. What do you like about them?
I'm not sure I know exactly what constitutes a Roman wig
Which one are you referring to?
By the way, do you remember Julia Saner? I only just discovered her, but found this on page 1 of her thread:
Sucks she's not working anymore. Do you still like her though, or have your tastes changed since then? It's interesting because she reminds me a lot of Emily Didonato, who I know you're not keen on.
I've seen most of Apocalypto and the outline of LOM. In sort, the former is a brilliant depiction of human nature/jungle chase (much better than, for instance, Predator) and both films very effectively craft a world. Both make concessions with historical accuracy but still, they're one of a kind.
BTW, I completely forgot about Julia Saner. I look back at her thread and honestly, I'm not that interested. BTW I am going to put a request for Hailey Clauson and Kendra Spears in the Junkyard... Kendra's a bit odd for me. From most angles, I don't find her all that incredible (I find her face to be too small and narrow for my liking..) but when she makes certain poses like this or does the 'Armini Code' advertisement, I kind of have to stop breathing..:

How do you know that I don't care about Emily D? Did I say it earlier?

But have you? You live in the suburbs to escape from the noise and re-assert your individuality
The noise infiltrates you even when you don't want it to when you're in the city, and you unconsciously let the noise shape you. Don't you think?
Well, Warsaw noise differs from NYC noise, that's for sure
and I think the city center is always the noisiest, but the city is not made of the city center only. There are quiet places as well. Warsaw in particular, has 30% of green area-quite many parks where you can rest
most of the cities here have 35-40% of green areas, and Sopot has 60%.
That's funny, because the Vanderbilts are very much 'old' money, and so old that they aren't even considered major capitalist players anymore. There were funny scenes in one of the episodes in season 2, when Nate took his 'poorer' friends Vanessa and Dan to his grandfather's country house. When they arrived, Dan said 'what?' because the house was quite big. Then they heard a helicopter and Dan said something along the lines that there is probably a hospital nearby and Nate's cousin said 'that's grandfather's ride', as he arrived in a helicopter.
Later on, Nate's grandad took Nate's friends to see the house and it had a presidential room in it as well.
Movie producers must be much more powerful. Think Harvey Weinstein. Oh, and isn't it 'funny' how every second actress wears Marchesa to the red carpet events? What a coincidence, the brand's designer, Georgina Chapman, is Harvey's wife...
Believe me, those real ultra-rich girls don't do nothing. They do quite a lot, and can do this precisely because they are rich...
Being a socialite is actually quite a lot of work and excitement, and many get interested in design, traveling, the arts, and expensive sporting. It's about being able to choose where and when to work......they have goals just like you do.

Most socialites to me seem like girls who enter show-business because, well, they have no idea what to do with themselves and just figure out that knowing right people is enough and will help them. I may be really wrong though, looks like you may know a few socialites?
I think you are. I've never seen you write a foul word, ridicule, or engage in an argument/debate ever since I joined BZ.
That is rather modest of you. In my mind, you prefer to adapt around confrontation rather than face it directly. Is this the case? Are you a little quiet?
I really don't like arguing for the sake of arguing. Some people seem to enjoy it
I think I get along with many people. Which is a problem sometimes.... for example, let's say you become friendly with 6 people in your class. Out of these 6, there is a group of 4 and a pair and they don't get along at all. The group of 4 doesn't like some traits of the other 2 people... If you decide to spend some time with the 2, the 4 either see it as a betrayal or it makes you uncomfortable as you are friendly with people your other friends can't get along with. At all.

Oh yes, that one. I love the way she holds her body - that second shot with the smoke is one of my favourites of hers.

I didn't think Julia seemed your type ![]()
You suggested that you didn't like Emily when we mentioned her and Doutzen's dollish qualities earlier in this thread.

I have acquired the screeners for:
Lincoln!
Last of the Mohicans (1992)
Apocolypto (2006)
Life of Pi!
The King's Speech (2010)
I will watch Lincoln, Apocolypto, and LOM, but I'm not too sure about the other two. They are well done films, but the subject matter may not fully interest me.
Wait what?
What did you see of Lincoln?
What it any good?

Do you re-use gifts? ....

I'm getting to you guys, I'm on it!
So here's, meanwhile..a few curious photos that I've collected these past two weeks:
-Candice's entire body looks incredible from this angle. As if she was sculpted from marble..<3
- Daria W. in an unintentional gif..
-Elsa's legs <3 are longer and thinner than I thought..
- Behati has changed her physique, and it's her best yet. Pity the lingere..
-Hilary R. has changed her body as well, and I wonder for what..? She looks sexier than ever, and more like wonder woman than her HF runway days..
-Valentina, as I noted elsewhere, is obsessed with veganism and liquid lunches... in her quest to discover the fountain of anti-aging ![]()
- This is Constance right out of bed with no makeup, no hair styling, nothing. ![]()
- Marloes Horst has so much affection for her dog that she is willing to post pictures like these for the world to see:
-Awesome Anna V and Maryna beach photos:
'Zero Wolf' from Apocalypto has exceptional physical charisma
Bits and pieces of 'Monange Dream' fashion show are starting to appear on youtube, and here's a clip from 2010. If you want to see Cintia D. on the runway, she's in there at 7:15 in all her glory.
Anna BB, Izabel, and other VS models make appearances in these shows.
