^I'm prepared for the Japanese language headache! It's the alphabet that's worrying me - not only is it (obviously) completely different, but there's not even just the one!!!

I know what you mean about tenses - I was trying to say that as a native speaker of any language you just take things as read. You don't necessarily know the intricacies of your own language, it's only when you learn another that you even realise the names of all these tenses and when you use them!

And yeah, good villains make for great films. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is one of my favourites too - and Nurse Ratchet is a bitch. I liked Commodus in Gladiator too (boo, hiss). And I really like Mr. Potter in It's A Wonderful Life - which I think is extra special in that there is no retribution. He gets away with being a shit come the film's end! Sure, it's still a 'happy' ending - but the villain is never brought to justice, and you imagine he'll carry on being that git until he dies...

Oh, haven´t seen It´s a Wonderful Life unfortunately... guess there are many things (and villains) I have to catch up with I´m sure you´ve seen Mononoke Hime? (Princess Mononoke) I loved it especially because I could not get to hate someone - even when I tried to hate Eboshi I actually couldn´t - she was only human. I loved how they showed two sides of a coin and that even if it felt like "happyend", it really wasn´t. Oooh, how I wanted to be Mononoke when I was young

I´m pretty sure you´ll be great at Japanese - you seem to me like a natural talent

^Those Uhlans sure knew how to live then, no?!!

Well, that's ruined my day... How am I going to get that out of my head now every time I 'reminisce' on Behati's 2010 VSFS appearance?

Well, you could probably get by on your sexuality here, but I know you're more than just a piece of meat of course . Didn't know whether you had seen this one. I didn't watch it myself, so let me know if its a rickroll .

^Thank you - of course I want to put across that there's much more to me than just my physical appearance - but people can be so shallow can't they?!!

And no, it's no "rickroll"(!), but it does suffer from the usual gurning Lima annoyances :yuckky: and Candice-induced narcolepsy typical of VS fare...

I was lucky enough to see "Winter's Bone" by chance last autumn and reserved my spot on the Jennifer bandwagon straight afterwards. Needless to say, the prospect of her playing Mystique has well and truly tipped my excitement for the new X-Men movie over the edge.

How did you like this movie? Most comments about it I've seen so far praised Jennifer's acting skills but the movie itself has opinion of boring....

(Unfortunately?) all I know about J.Lawrence so far comes from 'gossip sections' that she said "she has a red neck thing going on....she's attracted to her brother" (or something very similar to this ) and she's currently dating Nicholas Hoult-who, I believe, will also be in this X-Men. Oh and she's in this movie by Jodie Foster, co-starring Anton Yelchin and Mel Gibson.

Ok, well, let's say it's my gossip/filmography knowledge about her

To find it slow is understandable I think - the premise is a familiar one (a teenage girl searching for her missing father) and it's pretty low-key, bleak stuff for the most part, but it also has suspense and tension in spades. I was totally hooked from start to finish, and would probably go so far as to call Ree my favourite movie character of 2010.

I must confess - when I look at Nicholas Hoult, all I see is the dorky kid from "About A Boy" but I'll do my best to reserve judgement until after the movie.

Thanks for writing more about this movie

Ugh, he annoyed me A LOT in "About a boy". I don't think I've seen him in anything else so far :ninja:

You all geared up for season 2011 Baron? :lullaby:

Is any of the pre-season competition shown over there?

^Unfortunately not... That said, we didn't do tremendously well in those! I subscribe to a Carlton e-mail newsletter, and a general AFL one - so I keep up with the news. But I'm sure, come the season proper, I'll be able to catch games at 5am again! And a new team this season too - how exciting!

Who's for a rousing call to arms then?

Indeed

You never really know how much to take out of the pre-season I guess, what with some teams seemingly going at it half-assed, and/or resting a bunch of their 'A teams'. Nevertheless, my Eagles have shown some encouraging signs. Here's to hoping they don't come dead last this year :|

I like seeing the tweaked/experemental rules they try out too. Kind of wish they'd introduce supergoals into the main season.

Any thing new on the Argentine music scene Baron ? It seems to be the only vein of latin music I know absolutely nothing about. I put it into a search and other than people dancing the tango, Madonna as Evita is the only thing I got .

^I feel your pain! It was only just two seasons after I'd began barracking for the blues that they "won" their first ever wooden spoon... Thankfully they've crawled out of that mire.

^Madonna playing 'national treasure' Evita didn't go down very well here, as you can probably imagine - and I'm ashamed that that's all that came up in your search...

If you want tango specifically then I can only suggest the maestro Carlos Gardel, for a traditonal take; and Astor Piazzolla for "nuevo" tango. (Y)

However, it doesn't end in tango. And Argentinos are proud classic rockers in the main. The Stones, Led Zep, and AC/DC are the biggest bands here - and it's still bands of that nature that are the biggest draws on the live circuit. Of course other big name South American acts are still a big deal too, but yeah - we do have our own scene.

Los Piojos were my favourite band in the 90's - I've avoided the slightly hokey (and very much dated) music videos in favour of stills. All the better to appreciate the music:

I really liked those songs

Their name translates to Band of Tourists?
