So I started reading the Danger Girls comic series. It´s great Especially I do fancy Sidney

I have an internet copy, too

Hey, glad you like Danger Girl, Jennka. The quality of the comic is significantly better than standard fair- the artist seems to have put his heart into it.

how about Natalia? Honestly, she does remind me of Anne V., except more aggressive & intense..

Oh, Natalia... I think Natalia would need someone with this sheere pure fierce sexiness. There can´t be anything cute in the girl... she must be a lioness. And Russian. I think only Russian is able to play Russian

And I like the drawing. Really much

I don't know these characters well enough (or, actually, at all!) to be casting them. Suffice to say I'd watch anything with Marloes in it anyway - if she's in fishnets and leathers then so much the better! mischievoussmilie.gif

Oh, wait, you got to explain this one for me. How is this "can´t stand the comic people" thing? You mean the people around your that read comicses and you found them... at least weird? like geeks or so?
^I mean people who live in comic shops - those that comics are the everything for them! I suppose you could say 'geeks', but 'geeks' are endearing and self-aware. Maybe 'nerds'?

I agree with both of you yes don, you´re right, she would be better Abbey than Natalia. And I´m sure the best (aside from Behati The One and Ophelia) Baroness Of Fratton

Oh, and nerds. Yes. I´m actually bad at telling the difference - what exactly does "geek" mean and what exactly does "nerd" mean?

I tend to think of a 'nerd' as being a very gifted academic. Someone with an incredibly deep interest or fascination with a certain area of study - an engineer perhaps, or a scientist. The word 'geek' I usually associate with slightly more creative and endearing qualities. Maybe someone less studious, but with a passion for obscure hobbies, fandom and/or technology - though of course, the characteristics and interests of both groups do overlap on occasion.

Jennka, as I understand it, "Nerds" and "Geeks" share a commonality- as in they both have deep, nearly encyclopedic knowledge about a specialized subject that is usually somewhat or completely inaccessible to a layperson.

There are considerable differences, though. Nerds understand a subject that has wide or useful application- ie. Math nerd, science nerd.

The CFO of a major corporation is technically an "Accounting Nerd". Most academics are "nerds". Scientists are "nerds".

Geeks understand a subject (enthusiastically) that is either hyper-specialized and/or close to worthless to most other people. ie. Comic book Geek, Video-Game Geek, Coin-collecting Geek, (insert computer science language here) Geek.

As for Las Kellies, YEAH! I've seen them a few times - they've been around for a good few years now though. They're our own Shonen Knife (if you know them?).

The name does ring a bell, though I'm not sure I've heard much of them. Another addition to my rapidly expanding 'to check out' list. :morning:

Oh, and while I remember Baron - another YouTube vid for you. A newly-discovered and rather magnificent all-girl band from London (via Brighton).

^I think those above two explanations are just about as perfect as you'll get! iconsalute3.gif

I'm referring to that guy in the comic shop who wants to talk at you about comics - he's there all day, mooching about the store (doesn't work there, thinks the owner is a 'God'). Maybe he isn't so hot on personal hygiene, and can't interact about anything else. He's not a bad man, it's just I don't want to get involved with him as I have other stuff to do...

^At first listen not a million miles from My Bloody Valentine - and that's no bad thing at all! Plus, the bassist is cute!

To be honest, the biggest fear I have isn't even the actual writing, but knowing enough about just general things (laws, technology ect.) to not have overt flaws in that area in real world stories even though I want to write Sci-Fi/Fantasy too .
^Surely the joy of those particular genres is that you an simply make it all up?

I mean, every universe has its laws - but you just invent a new one. Look at vampires these days, there are at least 3 (off the top of my head) TV/film series running concurrently now that all have differing versions of what vampires can and can't do. My vampires are all called Dave and hold middle-management positions in the accounts department of a freight-haulage business that runs out of branches on the north-eastern US seaboard. They are allergic to garlic, but only in as much as it makes them sneeze a lot. They drink blood, but Jagermeister will suffice; and when they look in a mirror they see hideously racist 'blackface' versions of themselves singing "Mammy". They can only be killed by stakes hewn from tennis racquets used in the four 'Grand Slam' tournaments since the advent of the professional era in 1968. See? 659bloodyfangedvampire.gif

Well, that all makes me feel much better and I've been working on that other thing .

A fact which in no way coincided with me feeling compelled to give them a listen. Honest!

That kind of touches on the one thing that's always bugged me about vampires - they can't see themselves in the mirror yet they always look so immaculately styled. Maybe they hang around in groups and do each others' hair.

^If the film version of Interview... was anything to go by - then them especially!

Don't you like my vampires then, sweet Ophelia? I think the middle-management Daves could prove to be even sexier than R-Patz!

This guy wins though:

Sure, there have been some mistakes. Neither he (nor Russell Crowe) should necessarily attempt "comedy" again with A Good Year - although both the scenery and Marion Cotillard looked wonderful and kept me watching! And 1492 was just plain boring. But Matchstick Men is an oft-forgotten little gem, Gladiator is just plain awesome, and Hannibal happens to be one of my most favourite films - it's pure grand guignol; a lot of people said it was 'hammy', yes maybe, but I think intentionally. Anthony Hopkins may not be as scary in this as in the other Hannibal Lecter films - but he's wonderfully funny, and the film is superbly paced and particularly evocative when in Florence...

Hannibal also has Gary Oldman as Mason Verger, which was pretty great..

^I love The Thing. It was television here late the other night and I watched it again for the umpteenth time!

Have to say though, when it comes to actually scary films - then it's Japan and Korea for me. Ju-On, Ringu -

There's something about the eeriness, and the sheer weirdness of Asian horror that unsettles me. Hideo Nakata, the great director said this about it, better than me(!): This may sound too simple but Asian ghosts can stand just behind you and can stare at you and doesn't say anything, just stands and stares at the main character. And that could be scary from our point of view... Whereas western movies, in general, westerns ghosts are an evil existence and are meant to do something to the victims, they attack the victims. So that is a difference that active feeling, the aggressiveness of the apparition in the western horror movies whereas in the Asian ones it's not.

David Lynch's work I find unsettling in a similar way. It's unexplained. Just - weird. That scares me much more than psychopaths and 'monsters'....

The Thing is pretty awesome, and they're making a prequel, I believe.. Monsters are pretty hard to pull off, in my view. The Xenomorph works because of its hugely disgusting reproductive process..as do the Aliens in the 'Thing'. I can't think of any other movie monster that really works.

I haven't seen any Japanese or Korean horror films. I've seen the US "Ringu" remake and "Oldboy". That's interesting- I mean, that bit about Asian ghosts. Why are Asian ghosts like that?

Oh, and I been recommended "Lynch" films for some time, but I haven't gotten a chance to watch any of them. I've heard... I've heard..

Yes, quite a lot. Not one is famous, of course. But most of my friends tend to have a wild life... sometimes they even don´t have to be artists

have I asked you this before---> ? Why do they always wear camouflage uniforms?

Thank you Michael I think I got it right now

Lol, maybe he lives there afterall I like people with hobbies or passions - as long as they have at least some personal life and don´t consider Superman their best and only friend

I have internet copies of 4 episodes do you have more?

Yes, gentle. That´s the word. Natalia is a pure steel. I can´t think of a model who is a pure steel too

Yes, quite a lot. Not one is famous, of course. But most of my friends tend to have a wild life... sometimes they even don´t have to be artists

have I asked you this before---> ? Why do they always wear camouflage uniforms?

yes, you did firstly, tramps tradition has something to do with partisans (don´t ask me more, dunno) and secondly, and most importantly, the clothes are comfortable, and last for long. In woods, you need clothes that last for long and are comfortable and less expensive than modern hiking clothes. They are great for any conditions - warm, cold, wind, snow, rain. I never wear camouflage (only shirts and jackets) and many times did I envy guys ... but I´m just used to jeans, skirts (yes, I can handle skirt for a hiking ) or shorts. Jeans mostly. Comfortable enough for me.
