^Why of course! I'm always appreciative of such satire... And what emoticon did you mean?I'm glad you liked my post, I hoped somebody would![]()

haha !
What was the deal behind the 'fat Gemma Ward' thing a while back?

skuttlebutt, skuttlebutt..

^ She was mourning the loss of Heath Ledger, who was romantically linked with her before he died. She also has some other personal problems, plus she wasn't modelling at that time anyway.
&Baron, I meant that emoticon with a light bulb ![]()

^I know, it's like he doesn't really read our posts isn't it?!Here you have your Canadian... not only he won´t reply to all the things he should, but instead of it he will talk about unicorns in the wrong thread. Jeeez. :baronlamesign:![]()
It´s really hard to believe, isn´t it? ![]()
By the way, how do you cope with bad dreams, B? Will drinking milk before going to sleep help?
they seem to reappear more often recently. I have had enough of them :persuazn: it´s weird, because they seem to be appearing when I´m quite content and happy in my life. And then, when I´m all down and everything seems gross, there´s always something pretty in my dreams. I seriously don´t get it ![]()
^G'day you. I had noted your absence just the other day (on your 'homepage'). I do hope you've been engaged in something fabulous so as not to be on here?'sup Baron![]()

Oh, nothing so exciting sadly.. just dealing with some personal shit <_<
Did I miss anything awesome?

I remember hearing about that at the time but it sounded like only a rumor. She did make a comeback though- I've seen her on the cover of fashion magazines a while back.

I generally have dreams when I'm dealing with a greater than usual deal of uncertainty and pressure during the daytime. I've found that the best way to deal with them is to 'sort it out' while I'm awake.
Literally- if everything goes smoothly and easily during the day then- tada! no dreams...![]()

it wasn't a rumor, it's confirmed.
She's acting now
She had a mildly successful Broadway debut and was in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Strangers, the Black Baloon and, is in the new The Great Gatsby ![]()

Then the latter is quite nice, Ophelia :-)
I remember loving the Great Gatsby (book). The film was hauntingly picturesque and at the same time, a bit stilted. If you're interested in this time period, there's a book called 'Reminisces of a stock operator' that you might find interesting. It gives you a good feeling of what the men who composed the 'the New rich' of the time period did on a day to day basis...as well as their somewhat shallow attitudes. One would understand better where Fitzgerald got men like Gatsby from.
The 1920s resembles the present day in certain ways- the great income gaps between the merely rich and the ultrarich & the latter's extreme lavishness and partial delusion.

Broadway debut? I feel so bad that i did not know about it, when did it happen?
I knew about a play she was a part of in Australia, and it sounded interesting... "The Black Baloon", she was really good in it.
But "Great Gatsby"... I just don't see the point of doing a remake of it. I know, I know, it's Hollywood, they'll do whatever they want, but I don't see why they would make a new version of a film that's not so old, and definitely not a forgotten one!

The Great Gatsby (have you read it?) is one of those books like 1984, Catcher in the Rye, Shakespeare, etc. that nearly every school kid in the states has been forced to read. The Robert Redford film is rather aged (definitely used by public schools, at that), so- in this case, I do see a market for a remake. :-)
^^ you are right, it was a play. My bad.
Baron, did you hear? Anne McCaffery passed yesterday. I'm absolutely devastated. She was the author that got me into reading.

A or B?
A

B

Well I'm glad to see all this Gemma Ward stuff has been debated and resolved totally in my absence! ![]()
Actually I'm looking forward to this latest Great Gatsby interpretation. I enjoyed the book before anyway, but I think Baz Luhrmann is a director with a very definite style - and I think his flair could be put to very good use with such material...
I liked Carey Mulligan (who'll be playing 'Daisy Buchanan') a lot in An Education - but since then she's gotten on my nerves. She seems to have prescribed to this insufferable 'jolly hockey-sticks, all-girls-together' British actress malaise - pioneered by Emma Thompson, and carried on by Kate Winslet (the worst offender), Keira Knightley and Emma Watson where it's all: Gosh, look at me in bloody Hollywood. Just a normal bloody Brit, swearing and farting and not caring and suddenly in all this bloody palaver with designer bloody dresses and awards and all that... <_<
Pisses me off no end!

^I don't really know my dear... I get the occasional pesadilla - but not so often as for it to concern me. I just wake up, maybe take a swig of water, and turn over and go back to sleep again.By the way, how do you cope with bad dreams, B? My brain has played enough tricks on me over the years - with 'waking' dreams too - so as not to be remotely perturbed by the odd silly little nightmare!
^Sorry to hear that. Anything awesome? No, not really. It was BZ Christmas with the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - but I'm a long way off calling that 'awesome' just yet!Oh, nothing so exciting sadly.. just dealing with some personal shit <_<Did I miss anything awesome?

^I hadn't. Of course, I knew her though - and I'm not surprised she was such an influence on you. When you are of an age to leap into literature these authors are of great individual importance - for without them we may never 'get' that bug, so I know where you're coming from...Baron, did you hear? Anne McCaffery passed yesterday. I'm absolutely devastated. She was the author that got me into reading.
^B - obviously. I have no issue with DiCaprio at all - it's just that Redford in his prime was pure beautiful!A or B?

hehe, obviously B myself. I had thought of posting that poll in the Leo dicaprio thread...LOL ![]()
But really- Dicapro's hard-looking (looks more off-the rack than tailored) white suit is what elderly Jewish or Italian men from Brooklyn tend to wear ![]()

^Now you mention it, he looks like an ice-cream man!But really- Dicapro's hard-looking (looks more off-the rack than tailored) white suit is what elderly Jewish or Italian men from Brooklyn tend to wear![]()
And yeah, I think we both know how such a poll would go down on that thread... ![]()

Our ice cream men either don't dress up or wear white dress shirts & black bow ties.

If you spend some time walking these neighborhoods: you'll invariably see these retired, loud, and overweight men sitting around in outdoors restaurants with their elderly friends- 'ay, Sally!' killing time while wearing 'rebellious' outfits from the 1950s. ![]()

^Well here, ice-cream men and doctors are interchangeable (purely in a fashion-sense of course)! 'What profession wears a white coat?' ![]()
