I liked Carey Mulligan (who'll be playing 'Daisy Buchanan') a lot in An Education - but since then she's gotten on my nerves. She seems to have prescribed to this insufferable 'jolly hockey-sticks, all-girls-together' British actress malaise - pioneered by Emma Thompson, and carried on by Kate Winslet (the worst offender), Keira Knightley and Emma Watson where it's all: Gosh, look at me in bloody Hollywood. Just a normal bloody Brit, swearing and farting and not caring and suddenly in all this bloody palaver with designer bloody dresses and awards and all that... <_<

Pisses me off no end!

I think I get what you're saying about those pallid and de-humanizing British Archetypes.

And another thing, while Carey Mulligan, Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley and Emma Watson are swanning around Hollywood looking for work, British film makers have to import American actresses like Renee Zellweger, Gwyneth Paltrow and most recently Anne Hathaway to play British characters in their films!

^Sorry to hear that. Anything awesome? No, not really. It was BZ Christmas with the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - but I'm a long way off calling that 'awesome' just yet! 1062-wine.gif

Yeah, I had a quick flick through the picture thread.. seemed pretty ho-hum, with the exception of Shanina who was the standout for me. A bunch of the other girls looked great too, but it's just 'meh' overall.

they seem to reappear more often recently. I have had enough of them :persuazn: it´s weird, because they seem to be appearing when I´m quite content and happy in my life. And then, when I´m all down and everything seems gross, there´s always something pretty in my dreams. I seriously don´t get it

I generally have dreams when I'm dealing with a greater than usual deal of uncertainty and pressure during the daytime. I've found that the best way to deal with them is to 'sort it out' while I'm awake.

Literally- if everything goes smoothly and easily during the day then- tada! no dreams...

I have exactly the opposite - when everything goes smoothly during the day, nightmares come (what may). It´s so not-understandable for me illogical really.

Here you have your Canadian... not only he won´t reply to all the things he should, but instead of it he will talk about unicorns in the wrong thread. Jeeez. :baronlamesign:
^I know, it's like he doesn't really read our posts isn't it?!

It´s really hard to believe, isn´t it?

^And he still didn't respond to all my replies did he?!

And what actually did you expect?

^I don't really know my dear... I get the occasional pesadilla - but not so often as for it to concern me. I just wake up, maybe take a swig of water, and turn over and go back to sleep again.

My brain has played enough tricks on me over the years - with 'waking' dreams too - so as not to be remotely perturbed by the odd silly little nightmare!

So it gets better with age? My fl as well is not concerned with such things. He wakes up, goes to bathroom and doesn´t care anymore... I adore that but even he has his dream insecurities...

^Actually I think all's fair in that field - as both sets can butcher each other's accents with equal aplomb! But, yeah, the stiff-upper-lip or down-to-earth Brit-girl stereotypes are achingly hackneyed, Mr. Icon. My concern was more about the actresses themselves though, how they come across in interviews and chat-shows - it seems that Emma Thompson set down this template of being terribly self-deprecating and unfazed by Hollywood "glamour" which all who've followed in her successful wake slavishly follow... I find it a little tiresome and forced.

This pretty much nails it:

^Well that's certainly very true!

Shanina - I can see that she's stunning, but she doesn't do anything for me, if that makes any sense?! Prettyphile is a big fan too, and was discussing her with me. I don't know, it just seems an 'empty beauty' to me. Don't know her of course, and she's an Aussie so you may be more familiar with her than I am... It's just tricky to explain, and I hope people don't think I'm putting her down. I feel the same way about Ale I suppose, it's all there - just lacks a certain Baron "something"! 1062-wine.gif

^Are you calling me old?!?!

Matured, if you want to hear it. Do you think I´m too young? I actually really look forward to my 30s. Everyone around keeps telling me how amazing that age is. I hope so :persuazn: they´re all like "Janka, you´ll be a great woman when 30 and more" so I take their word don´t they even dare to lie to me... !!

And I like Shanina, but I get what you´re talking about. Frankly, I love Ale, I have loved her for more than 10 years now... but I still can say Behati has more wibe and personality (from what WE are able to see and hear, not from meeting them in person of course) than she has ever had. So That´s, I guess, why I love Gisele so much. She is not the epitath of beauty or woman curves or what... but I love her personality from what I hear or read. I love her variability, her smile, everything. Hard to explain... when (really) many people ask, what the hell is about this Gisele that makes her so unique? She is not even THAT beautiful... I admit, she is not. But she has that something that seems to work for many other people and designers and fashionistas and photographers as well... so? everyone who has met her personally says she is like a sunlight, really irresistible even with all her flaws.

I can easily understand that.

^It's not that I don't like them - I mean I fail to see why Izabel Goulart is raved about, Emanuela De Paula too (boring), and other "beauties" I simply don't like (you know who you are!). But with Shanina, Ale, others too - I can see, if there ever can be such a thing, an "objective" beauty: but it doesn't touch me...

I think maybe the "vamp" look isn't that attractive to me? Also, all this talk of "exotic" (frequently levelled at la Lima) only applies if you don't live in a country whose female population is 90% dusky!!! I'd be lying if I said all Porteño ladies are VS material - but it would be a Candice or a Lindsay who would stand out here, so such feted features don't carry that elusive/mysterious caché.

How did you rate Behati's outfits this year? <_<
^They were, of course, a load of old tat! But, as in every year, she fared better than some - worse than others... For me the show stopped being about seeing models in lingerie around 2006 - then on in it became increasingly surreal and 'costumey'. Now I persevere to catch the odd glimpse of my favourites enjoying themselves, and catching as much flesh as I can! Outside the austerity of fashion weeks and the odd video project, you just don't get to see them in motion enough. It does serve that purpose which is why I'd be sad if certain models didn't take part (Magdalena? WHY? ).

Whilst I wouldn't mind Behati dressing up as a superhero for me on special occasions, I don't think these latest outfits are all that. The best things she's ever gotten to wear were the two 'finale' outfits she sported in 2007 and 2008. A teddy and a babydoll, these things were actually sexy - and we didn't get to see anywhere near enough of either of them (nor the ones worn by Rosie, Candice and Inguna similarly) due to the idiotic editing that went on - particularly the cut out walk from 2007...

I've never really considered Shanina so much of a vamp type.. she's got too much of a warm smile.

Valentina Zeliaeva is one of those 'empty beauties' for me though. I mean she really does have an immaculate face, but it's just not there for me

that is actually exactly why I like Izabel. Her butt is to die for, damn. But I love Valentina as well... I´ve never seen such an elegance in one person. She looks so petite (but I doubt she is small), so soft, so beautiful, like a princess, like a gift to some emperor.

^I'd go for just 'sexy' - since I'm neither an 'Englishman' nor 'tired'... 1062-wine.gif At least half the time anyways!

'Random mutterings'? All this is pure gold.

^Well aside from that obviously!

I have lauded Izabel's bum on this thread before, it is quite something - but that's as far as it goes. I stick by what I said, I don't think she's particularly pretty, and I'm no fan of her torso either. Horses for courses though...

^The best I can say about Valentina is that I'm completely ambivalent! I take both your points and remain as cool about her as I was previous.

In that second picture my eyes go straight to Natasha Poly - lovely!

Another thing, I'm getting massively annoyed at the lack of credit Bellazon and I are getting out there (with my Behati posts) - particularly on tumblr. I appreciate that I'm not taking these shots, and I still have to find them somewhere, but find them I do (most likely before anyone else) - but it's the fact that people are taking my words that's pissing me off...

I make sure that I give all appropriate information when I post Behati stuff on her thread - but then others just quote that too, like they've said it, when they post the pictures, even crappy jokes or asides I might make! I wouldn't mind so much but they never credit me or the forum, and then you'll see them credit somewhere/one else on their next post - and I wonder why we get such short shrift? It's almost like I shouldn't bother saying where I've found stuff or who it's by as it's just easier for them. If I don't then maybe they'll have to say Bellazon as they won't know anything else? Isn't this my 'intellectual property'? Maybe I should copyright all the crap I say?
