Looks like it and "Brokeback Mountain" was known under "The secret of Brokeback Mountain".

I just looked for more titles and found even more ridiculous translations, but some of them were wrong. For example Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" was not translated simply as "Between places", it had a double title: "Somewhere. Między miejscami (between places)".

I forgot about "In Bruges", here known as "First shoot, then go sightseeing" (I have never seen the film though, so maybe the translation makes sense...?).

And now I looked at some Finnish titles and

"Always the first time"-"50 first dates"

"Children of men"-"Sons of human"

"Captain Ron"-"Idiots in Aloft"

And some Norwegian:

"Atonement"-"I'm sorry"

"Bend it like Beckham"-"Screw it like Beckham"

"Enchanted"-"Adventures in New York"

"Failure to launch"-"Mambo"

"Jaws"-"Shark Summer"

"The silence of the lambs"-"The night moth"

And an extra from Brazil:

"Confessions of a shopaholic"-"The Consumption Deliriums of Becky Bloom"

^ These are all wonderful! The only other weird one I can recall from back home is Con Faldas Y A Lo Loco for the classic Some Like It Hot - it means 'wearing skirts and being crazy'!

I also remember reading that Leaving Las Vegas was called 'I'm a drunk and you're a whore' somewhere - but that may just be apocryphal!

BTW, did anybody else see the Toni Garrn mini-drama? She was announced as being the next Angel, but then her status was abruptly changed to lesser contract.
^Ah, those VS vagaries. I reckon they do it to fuck with us! Anyway, I think you'll find "Angel" status easily explained here: http://www.bellazon.com/main/index.php?s=&...t&p=2714053

I'd always used (or presumed it meant at least - I can't recall ever using it myself) 'bust a nut' as a term for working really hard?

The 'bust a nut' is used for the male orgasm generally .

^I guess this must be a trans-Atlantic oddity then (like "fanny"!). I don't think I've ever heard it used that way.
^"Beating", no. But a little "spanking" and then some cash? Yes!

I´m thinking about other traditions that you would enjoy so much but... I guess this is the only one do you have (in Argentina or UK) such "crazy" but funny tradition as well?

^I'm sure there are by my mind has gone blank! Generally in Argentina we like to make angry placards and march up and down the street kicking in windows when we are displeased.

Oh, another one! Here it was called... well, it could be translated, more or less, as: "Half-jokingly, half seriously"

is it from some communist country? putting my google skills to use yeah, China! Found a whole list but it's so ridiculous I'm not sure this is the real list of real translations!?!?

"Pretty Woman" - "I Will Marry a Prostitute to Save Money"

"Leaving Las Vegas" - "I'm Drunk And You're a Prostitute"

"My Best Friend's Wedding" - "Help! My Pretend Boyfriend Is Gay!"

"The Crying Game" - "Oh No! My Girlfriend Has a Penis!"

^just to give a few.... the rest of the titles sounds even more ridiculous, so I leave it to you to decide whether they were the official movie titles in China

And Iekeline Strange...I've never even heard of until now. I'm doing a little homework on her and wow!, She's a little scary and intimidating looking but has such great range!

Got a very original style off the runway, Agyness Deyn cannot compare; wonderful cheekbones; great editorial model; looks so different in comparison to other Dutch models.

^Oh my lawd! They're quite literal aren't they? I'm not sure how I'd feel asking for a ticket to Come to My Cave and Wear This Rubber Codpiece, Cute Boy - yeah, one please!!! Or, if I had done and then was massively disappointed that it was the beyond turgid Batman & Robin... :|

oy, Baron, what's the running joke about Kasia about? I only know that she seems to have appeared in VS and then was cast away in short notice.

I think she's beautiful. (although I like Martha Streck better..)

^Ah, Katsia...

I've got no issue with her, she's OK. As you said, she suddenly appeared in VS and disappeared just as quickly. But - in that microsecond inbetween - she was heralded as the Next Big Thing™ and lauded all around this forum (and elsewhere) as the future/saviour of Victoria's Secret; and (without wishing to incur the wrath of any casual visitors) the clamour from some members verged on the maniacal! And then: nothing. :lost:

I'm sure there were all manner of valid reasons for this curious episode, and VS is notoriously illogical, but it stuck in my head as an amusing period of hysteria that I (and others) like to remind ourselves of when the inevitable Next Big Thing™ occurs...

I never really got what the big deal with her was, in that big wave of Katsiamania, but I really like her now. Shame she's all but disappeared

^Well, I'd say New York style generally. But then the best pizza I ever had was in some little restaurant under the "L" in Chicago. You just don't get it that much elsewhere. In Argentina we actually have our own style, although it's not that dissimilar to the New York school.

Actually, it was my mother's birthday yesterday (the same as Rosie's, my papa's the same as Candice, and I share mine with Erin - obscure, niche, and irrelevant 'fact-fans' ) and so I took her out in London - partly so I could get a decent steak at El Gaucho's: the best Argentino restuarant here. I must have been away too long though as my stomach had trouble processing that huge slab of rare bife de lomo!!! It cost ten times as much as it would do back home too, but I got to drink Quilmes beer (as well, naturally, as some damn fine malbec 1062-wine.gif), and shout at the televison with some countrymen as we watched Messi and Mascherano not do the business against Chelsea.

And, to acknowledge Rosie's bd:

(Y) Good choice on the Deep Dish style. I myself prefer it slightly for the fact it's one hardy meal that really packs on the toppings. But, when I want to eat a slice then go right to my beer with out putting down my slice of pizza, I must stick to the traditional thin crust for that. Hard to pick a favorite but each style has its mouth watering appeal

Pass on deep dish and I'm from Chicago. :x (there is such a thing as too much cheese)

New York please!

Thin crust with pineapple and extra sauce for me!

What are the odds!! Probably not the most productive fact but pretty cool regardless

When I settled down, you will have to point me into the right direction of some good Argentinean restaurants. You would think by looking at me but I am a bit of a "foodie" rarely do I turn my nose up anything that is new to me in order to expand my pallet. With saying that though I am embarrassed to say that I couldn't really give you a definitive on what a typical Argentinean dish entails

But I'm dam curious now
