^Yeah! They are still cool though, aren't they? I like the idea that they could all be bright neon colours or something too as scientists haven't been able to tell that yet...

I don't like all those crappy sub-par CGI ones that are used all over the place now however (Syfy channel a prime offender!). Jurassic Park still holds up brilliantly, that shit - made nearly 20 years later (scary ) - does not.

^Top spamming! (Y) Got a name to go with that? First one particularly.

Hmm, I shall keep my eyes open for Caol Ila

By any chance have you had Glendronach 15-25 Yo?

Also high up on my list after relentless reviews and word of mouth.

I haven´t seen any better dinosaur movie than Jurrasic Park (1). I´ve read the book too - amazing. Considering nowadays technique - it´s sad. Considering technique back then - brilliant!

^It's strange, the book, in the respect that most of the characters who die in it stay alive in the film and vice versa. Not that filmmakers aren't known for taking massive liberties with source material!

I think I got used to these liberties - when I read The Ring trilogy from Tolkien it was a pure male-story. In movie, female characters were more important and present than in books. I did not like this fact, but well... the movie industry does it all the time.

^No, in general I prefer the whiskies of Islay - it's that peaty 'iodine' taste that does it for me! msn-12.gif

There's something about drinking a single malt in the cold dark night though, preferably with winds howling and even the rain hammering down (providing, of course, that one is inside). How do you deal with that in California? I don't suppose you ever get damp in your bones, no?!

^I think with such a huge tome, and even being as long as they were, it was necessary to make some big changes - and, yes, I suppose it made a certain business sense to 'bolster' the slight female characters that there were in it. I hear they are adding Legolas to The Hobbit - for some hot Bloom action! <_< That kind of thing is more inexcusable and stinks of money-making meddling...

The worst examples though are the films where they change a factual event to make someone look better - war films especially, as often you're disrespecting people, heroes, who are still alive. A notable example being U-571, which had submariners from the USA seizing the 'enigma coding machine' - an event that actually happened with British submariners, 6 months before the US even entered WWII.

Never heard of that submariners movie before what an arrogancy to do! And Bloom in Hobbit? Is it true? I hope not.

There is a reason why I don´t generally like watching war movies. Or movies about terrorists. Big NO.

Ah, fair enough. That note of taste is surely something to enjoy. Its why I'm so ever fond of Laphroaig to begin with

I'm guessing you're a fan of stormy nights then? Not so much damp in the bones here as it is sunburn on the skin weathermanf2.gifWhy I love my whisky late at night, just before bed, good way to drink down the days hassles and enjoy the finer things in life.

So I'm not sure if you would have heard or not, but what are your thoughts on Mick Malthouse taking the reins of your Blues?

I really can't believe they gave Ratten the boot. Coaches' positions are always so precarious these days, and the way they get hired and fired seems so cruel and reactionary

The team has come on very well the last few seasons - and maybe last year's run flattered to deceive somewhat? Making this year look a bit of a failure - but hey, beat the 'Pies twice!!!

Interesting you found it surprising though - it's been anything but in the media here In the past year that he's been in TV/radio, he's been constantly asked about returning to coaching. That, coupled with the Blues' shaky year and the aforementioned week-by-week axe waving, Mick's name has been linked to the job for much of the year.. gaining more traction and credibility as it went along.

Incidentally, I know this is an english-speaking forum, but I think it's rather insulting to pull up non-native speaking members on their language skills. I don't know where you're from spiral (and you might be in the same position) but that's a little churlish. <_< There's enough grammatical and spelling mistakes from native-speakers to be having cheap pot-shots at those whose english is not their first language.

And when those native-English speakers don't make mistakes, they make me (non native speaker) so dumb,I sometimes get lost in translation by them, and feel all my learning of English from very young age look so useless,I even sometimes need some translation of the whole concept not the words only.

Ah,sorry for invading your own place, but I'm sure that you respect anyone.

^Me too, I find Paul Thomas Anderson's directing and choice of material very interesting. In Magnolia he made one of my favourite films, and he got both Cruise and Sandler (in the much underrated Punch Drunk Love) acting! No mean feat...

Ah,sorry for invading your own place, but I'm sure that you respect anyone.

^Not at all Mahi, of course you're welcome. ¡Encantado! As I say in my first language.

I appreciate that I use words and phrases that wouldn't make sense to many, speaker and non-speaker alike - but I don't apologise for that as it's just my way (and this is, ultimately, an english speaking forum); but I found that member rude for "correcting" 'kiki like that. I think there's a distinction to be made between other-native-language-speakers making mistakes, and just pure nonsense that happens to be grammatically incorrect too...

^I think she was born in Colombia but raised in the USA (California). I'm not sure of the exact time frames but really she's had the same kind of background as me (I was born in Argentina, but raised in the UK from 4 years old, although my mother is British). Although that could have been Jade** or one of these "sisters" - it's hard to keep track of her story...

You're half British?

Though not knowing this and though seeing your location to be Argentian, I always considered you native, and usually get lost in translation by you, which made me feel ashamed of myself ,after about more than 15 years of learning English and even more than learning it.

So,now I won't feel ashamed,you're half native English speaker.

BTW,today is my 1st day to not get lost with your words and phrases, good start I think.
