^It's slowly become an unfortunate VSFS trope... They did it with Anne V a couple of years ago - and Miranda/Orlando too (hey, look how well both of those turned out!  ). I get that loved ones will cheer, but the constant cutting to them just smacks of an immense lack of imagination by Madoff or Done and Dusted or whoever it is that fucks up the simple pleasure of seeing a model walk up and down a runway in lingerie for me...

VS wishes that their fashion show was still half as good as during the height of the KK period.

They've pretty much ruined it with their indentikit model castings.

^I'm glad to see it's not just me that has trouble with the revamped quoting function!

Yes, so many weddings to attend - its the curse of my socialite lifestyle...

Nacho is a big deal back home - he's a superstar Polo player (which is a big sport in Argentina) and frequently tops those 'Sexiest Man' variant polls and is 100% more palatable than Adam Levine.  <_<

^I'm not a massive fan of being reminded of the relentless march of time and irrevocably lost days - but Scotland does New Year pretty well, and I'll drink enough to bypass that maudlin stage! For me, Christmas is always away from some part of my family as most of them (my grandfather aunts and uncle) are in Bs.As, but my mother and her side are in the UK, and my father is in Spain - so it's special each year as I get to spend it with different people but miss the others. I like the different routines, but the innate similarities in the tradition. I'm not religious at all so I err towards celebrating the seasonal aspect of it as I'm in the UK this year, bringing greenery inside and lighting the place up. Happy Saturnalia - minus the human sacrifice!

Maybe we should put horse blinders on the runway models that way they aren't distracted by those in the audience?

Well, I know nothing about polo I only knew about Nacho from the interview I mentioned. He said he's married with 4 kids. His wife... I googled her and she looks strange in some of these pics-like a younger cousin of Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Seignier mixed with Arizona Muse (which is not a good look in my opinion... I mean I don't like Arizona and Emmanuelle is not breathtakingly beautiful but not awful-looking either) and in some she looks really good. Was she a high-fashion model? Anyway, now I also found that Nacho was in "Gossip Girl"?!?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT?!?!

Have you ever seen 30 days of Night? now THAT is a perfect thriller/horror movie, seriously a vampire movie done right. Great acting, great storyline, not cheesy. Just straight up good. Its one of those movies everybody knows about but not alot have seen, but once they see it, can't stop talking about it.

^Yes, I have and I did enjoy it! The setting was great - and allowed for great blood on snow graphics (itself an excellent evocation of it's 'graphic novel' origins); plus it just had brutish vampires with none of the shitty accoutrements they've picked up latterly... 659_bloody_fanged_vampire.gif

Ughh so true. I mean so rare to find a well made vampire movie. Its all about loovvve now, and even the vampire movies that aren't about love suck too. 30 days was great because it was just straight up scary, and not just with bloood or whatever, but because these guys were sneaky, and smart, and THATS whats scary.

Any comedies your a fan of?

^I can't believe it either!

Delfina is a model latterly, but she comes from the 'Polo set': posh horsey types... She really does look like Emmanuelle Seignier now you mention it!

I know my answer. Probably because it was season 3, my least favourite one and it was a season premiere I didn't like much.

'Model' and 'horsey' should never be put together in a sentence, you know

Typing about this Emmanuelle comparison, "Bitter Moon" came to my mind. Have you seen this film? She always seems to play such disturbed characters, but then well, what one expects to see in Polanski's films... I know she doesn't play in his films only, but you know.

Then again, Kristin Scott Thomas was just so breathtaking in "Bitter Moon" I just she's one of these actresses who always look so good, no matter if they are in their 30s or 50s.

^Very true. And yes, I have seen Bitter Moon - I think it was the last time Hugh Grant acted

'Model' and 'horsey' I'll leave - although names come to mind...   I meant 'horsey' as in that class of people who own and "use" horses, generally upper-middle class types. Delfina's family has stables and suchlike.

Was the season 3 premier the one with the luminous Clémence Poésy  If so, then it was the best!

Layla, this is how Arizona celebrates the holidays, did you know??  I feel like I'm the only person on BZ besides BigMax that finds Arizona to be classy and beautiful.

I like Mel Gibson, ultra-right peculiarities and all.  As a filmmaker he is bold and depicts torture & extreme cruelty.   Compared to boredom that is hollywood, it's refreshing to see offensive material going mainstream (Passion of the Christ, Braveheart,  Apocolypto, The Patriot).  Out of all of his films, Braveheart is easily the most important as it heralded the trend of ultraviolent & emotional sword & sandle epics like Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven.

I like his manic-depressive acting, and in particular I remember liking 'Conspiracy Theory' about fifteen years ago.  I dunno, something about Mel Gibson makes me crack up...

American.
We only claimed him as one of our own during his 'good' patch. You can have him back now

Aesthetically, I never really rated BMWs until the last 5-10 years - the new designs are pretty nice. I suppose Z3s were the exception - I did like those, although the Z4s are much sleeker now. TTs are sexy little packages too, although only as hardtops - I think they look horrible as convertibles. Z4s look good as both. Audis are my favourite overall though - I just recently bought an A4

American cars are something of a rarity here - you hardly see any

Gibson's Irish....

^Gibson hates the (specifically) English seemingly as much as Jews...    Actually it's funny how often any US/Brit argument - no matter the theme - ends with the US side going on about 'kicking your ass' in the Revolutionary war as if that makes anything else a moot point!    In the build-up to the VSFS I read a few comments about the "cultural sensitivities" surrounding the 'British Invasion' segment as if it was liable to open some old wounds! Most Brits I know don't give a toss about that, and it certainly wouldn't register whilst watching a fashion show...

Hello dear friend

Yes I know, another long stretch of absence has occurred  Finding time for superficial fun and games like BZ just seems to be getting harder and harder these days.

In any case, hope all is well with you and enjoying the festivities of xmas

Um... contemplate.gif

No.

Posing with the flag in a bikini is actually the official citizenship test

I remember you mentioning Apocalypto before, but I still haven't seen it

I actually really like Payback for some reason, even though there's nothing particularly clever or original about it. It's just got a real no-nonsense story with a rather gritty/noir style about it. It's just always stuck with me - lots of memorable characters and moments. I can't think of a Gibson movie I've liked more - it's been too long since I've seen Braveheart. I think that's the only one I've seen that he's directed.

I don't like Z4s or any of the BMWs. Too many cars look like electric shavers these days. The application of lines and curves is excessive with current designs. I stopped liking BMW shells after the 1990s-2000 era 3-series M3. I test drove the a friend's BMW M3 as a teenager and I really enjoyed its agility and sleekness.

Yes, the Audi TT (silver) was quite a beauty. How about the Toyota FJ Cruiser? That's what I drive these days. How's the A4?

As for American cars not being in Australia- It's because of Tariffs, right?

As far as car companies go, I researched their corporations and stocks in the late 2000s and concluded that for practical people (who seek maximum reliability and value) Subaru and Toyota are the best and the luxury spin-off brands are mostly higher margin rip-offs with often identical engines.

Sin City?

sin_city_cars.png

I actually like the trend of many car frames today - they went from too boxy to too curvy, now a lot of designs have a real sexy mix of sleek curves and sharp lines that cut into them. That's an interesting jump from a Z3 to a FJ Cruiser.. they're not really my type I suppose. Do you take it off-road anywhere? And I love the A4.. it's the first really nice car I've ever had, so I'm trying hard to look after it

"Payback" is actually a not so subtle rip-off of "Point Blank". Of course the Lee Marvin-John Boorman feature is much better.

"Payback" is a guilty pleasure of mine too, though. Maria Bello!

^Hmm, I didn't realise it was based off anything.. but apparently they're both based off the same book, rather than Payback being a remake of the first movie. There's also a director's cut which is supposed to be closer to the original source material <_<

Any comedies your a fan of?

^Comedy's a much harder thing to quantify - don't you think? As in what one finds funny seems so much more personal... I mean I've watched sketch-shows with other people and we'll all laugh at vastly different things and at different points.    Even if we agree that x is a great film, it won't necessarily be for the same reasons. I'd be loathe to recommend anything!

I agree comedies are definitely something special to each person and its different. I for one like the grosser, type of comedies, things like the 40 year old virgin, and knocked up. I know some people who think that is just stuuuupppid. So I definitely agree with ya on that

Oh and also The DiCaprio wishes you a happy holiday
