Joe, I had to google some of these girls, not knowing how they look like
Genevieve pretty? I googled her and the third photo in google images looked like she's a crackling, a victim of horribly done face reshaping which caused her to look like a permanent duckface.A bored girl at a drink bar. Sorry to say that, maybe there are better pictures of her but she gave me such impressions ![]()
Catalina Olvararo-you sure that's her name? Google corrected it and even with the corrected name, they didn't give me much of 'model images'.
Wasn't familiar with Daniel Freitas, she's really pretty but I wouldn't say she looks a lot like Adriana... if anyone, I see resemblance with Kaya Scodelario, and she's like a mix of Marloes and Barbara in this photo: http://www.theplace2.ru/archive/daniela_freitas/img/Daniela_Freitas_111.jpg
There's something in Herika that reminds me of Sara Carbonero, but I find Sara much better looking.
Emily DiDonato is so pretty yet I can't believe how bad her profile looks ![]()
And you forgot one model in your 'Adriana list'-Irina Shayk! ![]()

I do think Genevieve is pretty, but I laughed so hard at that description anyway ![]()
. Strangely enough, aside from the beauty assessment, I can't disagree with the actual description. Her face is really wide and she does look slightly drunk (though more like a buzz) in some of her candids. I also agree about Emily's profile and also think she looks weird when she talks sometimes too for some reason although I think she has one of the best eye and lip combos and has really smooth skin as well. She also doesn't seem affected negatively by her success although that's just
an outside opinion of course.
After looking her up again, I think Sampaio might be my least favorite face of the group as her pics seem really inconsistent (and not due to makeup) and the only feature she has that I love is her lips. I definitely think Adriana was better looking at that age minus the smile of course. I didn't forget Irina as initially the list was going to be about faces and I later changed it to babes at the last second. She would rank last in the face because I find her somewhat strange looking without makeup whereas she would rank high for personality (# 1), sexiness (challenger for # 1) and the body (Top 5 somewhere) among that group of course.

Emily is really pretty that's why it was so strange to me to see how weird her profile looks
too bad she doesn't seem to have wide range of emotions expressed in photoshoots... it's like looking at the same face everytime. Then again, I like her in Maybelline ads, perfect choice by the company so I won't complain. btw, I nearly didn't recognize Freja when I saw a mascara ad with her... I thought it was strangely photoshopped Kemp Muhl at first.
Why do you find her strange with no make-up? Just curious
is it about her face overall, or lips or eyes?

At least its maybe the least significant 'flaw' compared to some other possibilities. At least facing forward is easier to do than hiding some other things
. That is true about Maybelline seeing as how even despite her lack of modeling skill or general effort, she comes alive with them. Interestingly enough, Laetitia has possibly the most criticized 'flaw' among well known models (her teeth) and also one of the best profiles by comparison. Maybe 'strange' was a poor choice of words as a more accurate description would be unfamiliar maybe in that she looks much different to me without makeup whereas being a user of mostly flesh tones, I didn't even previously know she wore much makeup to begin with. Despite that, her lips are the only facial feature I particularly like. As patronizing as that is sounds, I am a fan of lips even if they don't stand alone (as the only striking feature) as well beauty wise as some other features can. She's probably still my sentimental favorite of the bunch seeing as how before her, I had the image of the Russian accent as being almost robotic sounding and she was the first person I ever heard to really bring it to life. More countries on the way although some had to be edited at the last minute as I was mistaken about where they were from.
In the mean time. My most useless talents.
5. Thumb Warring/Speaking Japanese
Why: Because I'm over the age of 10 and thus its difficult to get someone in my age range to participate.
Why: Because I haven't been to Japan and don't know any people who speak it that don't speak English. On top of that, most of the Asian people I know are from every other Asian country. I also can't write in it
.
4. Pick pocketing
Why: Because I don't steal. I'm probably more likely to kill you than steal from you.
3. Card Counting
Why: Because aside from being banned from a few places, I'm not a big fan of gambling. I also find that it takes the fun out of the game as the randomness is part of the fun for me at least.
2. Typewriter making and repair
Why: There's this thing they have now, you may have heard of it. Its called a computer.
1. Two thing juggling. It doesn't matter what it is as long as its two of them.
Why: Because its two things.

Did someone say Sandy Leddin?
I'm surprised Toni Garrn didn't make your list. Also.. Devon Aoki German?
I was surprised too (about Devon) but then I checked her mother is German (or half-German). I was even more surprised about Michelle Trachtenberg, but it looks like she's Russian-German.
I guess if we broke down models' parents nationalities... that would be surprising.
I´ve read an interview with her where she stated that she feels Canadian, that she was "only born" in Ukraine and always considered herself Canadian. But from her work it seems she has a soft spot for Ukraine (and vice versa) though

Andy Warhol is Slovak but Jennka, correct me if I'm wrong but he didn't feel any connection with his parents' country, right? Similarly to Stewart, his parents were both immigrants but he was born in the US.
You could go on with lists like that.

Nice lists, Joe ![]()
btw do you know WHY everyone looks like Adriana?
Because God created us to embody his picture.

Afternoon Joe! ![]()
Watched the first double bill episode of 'Defiance' this week, and quite liked it. The first half was incredibly slow going for a TV series, but it picked up in the second half. Think I'll stick with it for moment.
Apparently it is in fact based on the video game of the same name, and from what I understand, there's something on said game called 'Arks' where people team up online to overcome huge monsters and various other foes. Whatever happens in the game is supposed to affect the show somehow. Sounds like a pretty interesting concept.

Top Finnish Beauties

Disclamier: In development
-
I can't say I know a whole lot about Finland. I do know quite a few models from there though, but since I don't know too many celebs, I'll call this one in development. I also
don't know too much about these women actually (not that I want to know anything about their personal lives unless its some charitable foundation or something), but here they
are anyway.
-
5. Anniia Pounti - definitely far from the stereotypical Finnish look.
4. Sophia Morelious
3. Don't know her name, sorry
.
2. Annika Stenvall
1. Anna Piirain - she could actually be seen as a little scary right there actually
but I find her to be the most interesting anyway.

I had heard of the game, but didn't know that's what it was based on. It seems to be getting good buzz. I taped all of the shows so far and it seems like I'm already behind
. Well, that's largely due to the fact that I didn't realized (in reference to the pilot) that I was in for a two hour commitment
. I should just see it as being two episodes though I guess and at least I do like what I've seen so far
.

Hey Joe, How have you been?

Enjoying life, healthy and doing well, thanks for asking
. Hopefully you're still traveling the world and all is well on your end
.
COPRock
! Good to see you
. Are you pleased with the current state of the UFC? It seems to me that the heavyweight division needs an influx of talent ASAP, but then the injuries seem to be the real problem though. I hope all is good with you in general though
.

Joe, what do you think about the Old Hollywood films? Some people seem to obsessed with that time. I used to roll my eyes at them (especially those who by Old Hollywood only mean Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, like they were the only ones from that time), but now I don't... I wouldn't say I just became classic films lover, but I got to watch a few of them lately and I guess I get the appreciation. I wouldn't say each and every of those films is so much better than the ones nowadays... and it's really good that recently people from all around the world can make films, and there are lots of them... but at the same time, the fact there are so many of them (movies, actors etc.) makes Hollywood lose its magic in a way? Do you get what I mean?
btw, if you think about it, there is only one actress from Old Hollywood alive, and that's Lauren Bacall... from actors, Kirk Douglas. Did I forget about somebody?
Who are your favourite Old Hollywood actors and actresses? Do you have any favourite films and/or roles starring them?

We're not worthy of her Limaness
. Her fans actually aren't as crazy as the old ones and have since been replaced with other model fans, although its still fun to make fun of it
. Either that or some of the new crazies just aren't as much fun anyway
.

The only detractor of Old Hollywood for me is the lack of diversity. Of course, that's probably moreso in comparison to 70s-90s than 00s as I don't generally consider token roles that weren't specifically written for said person to be that much more diverse. I'm not what you would call and Old Hollywood buff or expert although that's not to say I avoid them by any means, but that's just by default of the fact that they weren't in the theatres during my lifetime. Most of the ones I have seen are quite good actually although I don't know too many of the actors and actresses in the ones I've seen by name. I must admit that this is in part due to the fact that I didn't want to learn anything about their personal lives seeing as how I somewhat enjoyed having celebrities I could know nothing about
. This is probably part of the reason I enjoy 'foreign' films actually. Well, aside from the actual movies that is. Interesting point about whether Hollywood is less special from there being too much. I'm not sure although it is an interesting point. I sometimes wonder if the emphasis on looks is making it less special. Obviously there was some emphasis on looks back then or style in particular. On the flip side, I don't know whether there has ever been as much emphasis on looks for celebrities as there is now though as if you're a woman especially, you apparently have to be a certain size and yoga expert too it seems.

Models That Model All the Time
-
Modeling, particularly the further you go forward in time, starts at a young age. Its interesting in a way though that the average person thinks of a fashion model as a grown women when many start as early as 13. Some though, still never really get into the spirit of it and just assume that by looking the way they do and showing up that the rest will take care of itself. This is largely because its worked for them
. Others though, put a little something into their expressions. Others, take the job home with them
. Some examples are backstage and event pics but still represent the general idea of their camera readiness. Either way, those that don't have street pics here still do basically the same thing on the street anyway.
Disclaimer: There were many others of course, but there were bandwidth issues and many others still anyway.
Edita V - her natural facial expression (dignified but accessible) naturally lends itself well to modeling but she gives a little extra as well.
M.F. - much like a Christie T. or Inguna (who ironically doesn't do much modeling), every angle seems to work for her.
-
-
Freja 'Beja' Beha - without striking beauty or even femininity, she still manages to be alluring. This is likely because whatever fire she has, she uses it to connect with the camera at all times.
-
-
Georgina S. - assessments vary tremendously as to whether she's beautiful, ugly or alien in appearance. One thing's for sure, she's always ready for the camera.
-
Jessica White - although some may argue that commercial modeling may not call for it, she doesn't seem to have any wasted expressions.
Jessica Stam - she's done what few (other than Trentini) have been able to do and that's have high fashion cred and be expressive using mostly the same expression. In doing so, she pretty much models all th time as a result.
-
Coco Rocha - the chameleon as some designers and photographers call her, never ceases to hone her skills any time a camera is around.
-
-
Sasha P. - one of the greatest editorial models of all time, she may not be able to walk in heels, but she can connect with a camera no matter the situation.
-
-
Vlada R. - the creepy doll thing can go down at any place and at any time.
-
-
Erin Wasson - even sipping lattés can't distract Miss Wasson from her inhering instinct to model when a camera is near.
-
-
Not seen walking the streets as much as others, but no matter where she is, she gives an expression that lets you know she's a model. Tiiu Kiuk, Daria Werbowy, Anna Maria 'Jaggy' Jagodzinska, Eugena Volodina and Raquel Zimmerman are somewhat similar in this regard.
-
-
Marloes Horst - a borderline caricature of smolderingness (though thankfully not the cliché dumb blonde kind), Marloes can model in her sleep. That is literally as she is sleeping here.
-
-
Liya Kebede - as a top model and humanitarian, Liya exhibits a royal kindof quality that Iman and few others seem to have. This translates well into connecting with the camera advertently and
inadvertently.
-
-
Shalom Harlow - as one of the best two way threats (being great at both runway and editorial modeling) Shalom is not only a great runway model, but has a distinctive style and is a great editorial model as well in that she's of few commercial beauties to have such success with such edgy and artistic type work. With all of this, its no surprise that the camera can't take her by surprise. Though not as 'conventional' of a beauty, Gisele is another one great at both runway and editorial and is always camera ready. This is likely in part due to her unique combination of sensuality and charisma.
-
-
Gemma Ward - Well, couldn't leave her out
. She's another one great at both runway and editorial work and thus its no surprise that no camera is a stranger to her.
