But I guess someone who has no interest in piano won´t spend 10,000 hours practising![]()
Well, sometimes people are forced, Jennka..to practice things they aren't interested in at all. Like I was forced to spend a few thousand hours playing the violin....observed many people who were similarly forced. And observed people who actually were truly focused into it.
You can´t deny a talent as well as you can´t deny a genius in some. Look at Michelangelo, or Da Vinci, they were born like that. No one, even after hundred years of studying could stand to their genius. They were exceptional. I had a classmate who has never studied art - we were in our 5th grade actually, and he could draw like a God. I SO envied him, even after my whole life studying and having the best masters I could get, I would be never, never as good as he was in his 11th year. Ok, he was weird, but who isn´t, anyway? And I was in love with him![]()
I would probably classify visual artists (and singing) in the same area as extreme talent in science and mathematics rather than more conventional talents & skills. But like scientific prodigies, these old masters also spent unbelievable quantities of focused, undistracted time developing and experimenting to achieve their abilities. I'm not saying that innate talent is not an issue, but I'm saying that I don't believe that it's the most critical factor for high performance. The exceptional, of course, would most likely lie with special gifts.
What is very common among these life stories is not only extreme focus on their skills, but a very early start in privileged environments- so their entire premature brains become truly immersed with the thing continuing onto adulthood.
There are people who just have it. You can learn your whole life, you can have the best teachers that exist - but you will never, never be as good as they are. I think genetics has some more to do with this. My fruitlover has been exercising since his 15th birthday, then he went to the army (as there was the obligatory of military service here in Slovakia) and he met this guy, whose father was a minor, and whose father´s father was a minor and so on. This guy could do things my fruit lover never ever dreamed of, and he didn´t even get out of breath!! He was genetically build to that. Strong and lean and physically - perfect. I think that muscles can remember. And so do people´s DNA.Well, I do agree that physical differences show significant 'genetic' differences. Men are five inches taller than their female counterparts. There are regions in Africa where the average man is well over six foot with unusually athletic physiques and dense bones..and regions where the average man is barely over five foot. Mental? I don't think the differences are particularly great. Even crude measurements like IQ show that the vast majority of people are around the same relatively close range and (barring extreme levels of aptitude) that people can dramatically increase their intelligences & abilites with long term (intelligent) focused effort.
I observe so called 'smart' people (I'm supposed to be one of them..) and so called 'dumb' people. Over time, I realize that they're not too different. In another life lottery, they can change places.
I know, this is something different than a skill to draw or sing. I think there are many things people don´t know still about these issues. But people love to think they can be more than actually they are able to. Sometimes it works, because, frankly, I´ve always thought the spirit is much stronger than the body. but we can never deny the issue of talent and skill that people are born with.
I agree with you
think we´ve gotten to a nic agreement. And a nice conversation too, thank you ![]()
And yes, we are all very similar, sometimes I´m just fascinated where do the differences come from? Education, upbringing, friends, people we meet? Is there something "solid" in us that can´t be changed, no matter what, or are we all just a plastic material that can be turned into literally anything? What do you think?

Ophelia, we all know you´re the only Baron´s true love
his redhead public secret :brows:

Oh, Baron, mi amigo, what do you think about Hermione Watson turning into an elf with her short hair? I´m still confused, I mean, I loved her hair, but then, she looks nice with short hair too, but then again, sometimes she reminds me of a boy, BUT....oh my.
What do you think?
^Pony-tails are fine - I just want to know that can all come tumbling down!Isn't it funny, but I really don't like short hair on ladies... I find it a bit of a turn-off (I had palpitations when an ex-girlfriend did it - didn't like it when 'Felicity' did it on Felicity either!!! :| ). But I have noticed your predilection for her elsewhere - and the music is very good.
I love that look on certain girls
How short is too short for you? Do you have the same feeling for the look of when a girl is wearing her hair up, and kinda looks short from the front?
I like bobs though, so, not shorter than that I guess...
'Pixie' cuts can be cute too - but I just prefer longer hair, that's all.
I find it hard to imagine Megan with longer hair. I just kind of goes with her geek chic look I think. But my obsession fondness for her goes far beyond her looks ![]()
Skye Edwards is someone who springs to mind, who looks good with any hair length/style - and her head has seen it all ![]()
She even rocked the totally bald look for a while, which I'm not all that crazy on, but it still kinda worked for her. She looks totally cool with this hairdo.. and OMG that voice ![]()

^Indeed... This conversation is all very Salieri and Mozart! Thank you both for choosing to do it here.I agree with youthink we´ve gotten to a nic agreement. And a nice conversation too, thank you

^Listen - I'VE got to deal with Tennant and Bowie, and now Misha Collins... <_< I say if LMS carries on being the conduit for some sweet Behati adoration then so be it!Ophelia, we all know you´re the only Baron´s true lovehis redhead public secret :brows:
Call her my 'Hall-Pass' my 'Get Out Of Jail Free card' or (1 of) my '5 List' - but Red and I have an understanding with Behati, and I should hope she wouldn't begrudge me such things?

^I have to say I don't like her anyway (too much simpering!), so I suppose I couldn't care even less!Oh, Baron, mi amigo, what do you think about Hermione Watson turning into an elf with her short hair? But, to surmise in poetry:
You can call me old fashioned
- if you're feeling sore
You can call me fickle
- of that, I am sure
I love your personality
- and isn't that what counts, after all?
But, since you had your hair cut
- I don't fancy you no more.
Well said B. A man needs his guilty pleasures and Hoi Behati fits that to a tee

^That sure is a beast - granted! And yes, I have measured him appropriately. I decided they'd probably be best displayed at 'La Bombonera' - the Boca Juniors stadium in Buenos Aires:I found the name, its called a short faced bear. I think this is the North American one that was I think a thousand some odd pounds smaller than the one in Argentina, but still over a thousand pounds bigger than the modern grizzly. I guess you can measure him with your patented Chanel tool too.

Did you ever see this documentary:

^No, it's all just 'smoke and mirrors' Joe - I'm simply a chancer...And you said you had no photoshop skills

And that Ariel shot could well be construed as "something for the dads"! It's a little out-of-context isn't it?
Usually though it's a scantily-clad female (or at least a scene in which she somehow 'loses' her clothes or inexplicably gets changed for no good reason), perhaps getting into a fight, straddling a motorbike, firing an automatic weapon - but in a film geared towards children; summer/Christmas blockbuster movies in particular.
