Did you hear anything about a rexamining or something of some bear bones found in Buenos Aires back in the 30s or something like that? I think they say it was like well over 3 thousand pounds and 11 feet :| . But they say that when more different predators came on the scene, the food suply shrunk and they started to get smaller and learned to eat other things. I forgot its name and where I read it, but it may have been National Geographic. But either way, I'd hate to run into something like that , but I would love to see an illustration of some kind at least.
^No I never heard about that! oops.gif Bears are still bears though, whatever their size and however you dress 'em...

Haha I know right Baron? It's insane

He did a whole series on version 1 & 2 of that game.

Among a lot of other super hard mario hacks. It's funny to see how annoyed he gets but never tosses it out the window like you would've haha

Take it off take it off :brows: .

I found the name, its called a short faced bear. I think this is the North American one that was I think a thousand some odd pounds smaller than the one in Argentina, but still over a thousand pounds bigger than the modern grizzly. I guess you can measure him with your patented Chanel tool too .

^Wow, thanks for all that. I have to say that the only 'national' newspapers I've seen from the US are USA Today and The Herald Tribune - both of which I found very dry and factual, in comparison with partisan papers here...

Yes, I suppose my own politics are left leaning (although I abhor 'party' politics) - and having been born and raised under a junta I have a deep mistrust of military leadership, and the more conservative elements of right-wing governments. Having only seen FOX discussed (and often lampooned) on other networks (US and non-US), and knowing Rupert Murdoch from his UK newspapers it sits uneasily with me. Although I suspect there's far more to the network than that, I find Glenn Beck in particular incredibly inedible...

Well, in the NY area the two top newspapers are the WSJ and the NYT. It's different, however, in other areas of the country. As for the military, in the US political and economic power is spread out in ten private industry supersectors with sub-sectors (and just as many public sector power centers) & the defense related elements are a relative minority. So the military has far less influence then say- Argentina, Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. US defense expenditures are too high- around 4-5% of the GDP, but not 'dictatorship' high.

In the USA, the media is largely generated by 5 media conglomerates -of which 4 are aligned with the Democratic Party. I don't think News corps is a 'bogeyman'..it serves its customers like Fox News (middle America conservatives, military), WSJ (Businesspeople and financial services (including yours truly..)), and New York Post (working class conservatives). The Glenn beck is an entertainer, and about as intellectually damaging to watch as Comedy Central's Daily Show & Colbert report. He's a conspiracy theory man- like Noam Chomsky & the far left (such as The Nation, Mother Jones..) and widely recognized as such..

I have to say that the US Democrats are unfortunately not much of a liberal party, their constituents include the US banking conglomerates, media & hollywood, the Venture Capital sector, transportation unions, private sector US manufacturing corporations, etc...

Do you travel because of work?
^Not really, although I do a lot of freelance work - so I can do that anywhere... I'm in a position in that neither of my parents live in Argentina anymore (or have done since the troubles in the early 80's). My mother, who's British anyway, lives in the UK and my father lives in Spain - so I like to go and visit them as often as possible. Plus I have some olive and almond trees in Spain that I get a (small) income from, and I do some university work in the UK whenever I'm there - so it keeps me ticking over.

You seem indeed a very interesting person to talk about, Baron I don´t even know how old are ya

I've thought (and read a little) of this subject, and my personal view is that the various (outside of the purely physical) aptitudes are primarily developed by self-motivated and trained individuals who receive their education in a logical & effective way. ie. Someone who has no interest and no tutor (or bad tutor) in the piano... can spend 10,000 hours practicing and achieve little aptitude.

And what effects the pupil in the early stages is often his or her composition as 'raw material'..if they're the right stuff that is. And to be the right stuff..they would have had been molded in a certain way by their environment and their personal activities...and often for years beforehand. I think a special 'composition of the brain' is a more minor component. It can give one an edge, of course..

There are outliers, of course, that seem to have supernormal capabilities but I think that is more a function of 'right place, right time, right person'..so to speak

But I guess someone who has no interest in piano won´t spend 10,000 hours practising

You can´t deny a talent as well as you can´t deny a genius in some. Look at Michelangelo, or Da Vinci, they were born like that. No one, even after hundred years of studying could stand to their genius. They were exceptional. I had a classmate who has never studied art - we were in our 5th grade actually, and he could draw like a God. I SO envied him, even after my whole life studying and having the best masters I could get, I would be never, never as good as he was in his 11th year. Ok, he was weird, but who isn´t, anyway? And I was in love with him

There are people who just have it. You can learn your whole life, you can have the best teachers that exist - but you will never, never be as good as they are. I think genetics has some more to do with this. My fruitlover has been exercising since his 15th birthday, then he went to the army (as there was the obligatory of military service here in Slovakia) and he met this guy, whose father was a minor, and whose father´s father was a minor and so on. This guy could do things my fruit lover never ever dreamed of, and he didn´t even get out of breath!! He was genetically build to that. Strong and lean and physically - perfect. I think that muscles can remember. And so do people´s DNA.

I know, this is something different than a skill to draw or sing. I think there are many things people don´t know still about these issues. But people love to think they can be more than actually they are able to. Sometimes it works, because, frankly, I´ve always thought the spirit is much stronger than the body. but we can never deny the issue of talent and skill that people are born with.

And I also know that there are studies, and there is reality. These two things are always different.

Well, sometimes people are forced, Jennka..to practice things they aren't interested in at all. Like I was forced to spend a few thousand hours playing the violin....observed many people who were similarly forced. And observed people who actually were truly focused into it.

You can´t deny a talent as well as you can´t deny a genius in some. Look at Michelangelo, or Da Vinci, they were born like that. No one, even after hundred years of studying could stand to their genius. They were exceptional. I would probably classify visual artists (and singing) in the same area as extreme talent in science and mathematics rather than more conventional talents & skills. But like scientific prodigies, these old masters also spent unbelievable quantities of focused, undistracted time developing and experimenting to achieve their abilities. I'm not saying that innate talent is not an issue, but I'm saying that I don't believe that it's the most critical factor for high performance. The exceptional, of course, would most likely lie with special gifts.

What is very common among these life stories is not only extreme focus on their skills, but a very early start in privileged environments- so their entire premature brains become truly immersed with the thing continuing onto adulthood.

There are people who just have it. You can learn your whole life, you can have the best teachers that exist - but you will never, never be as good as they are. I think genetics has some more to do with this. I think that muscles can remember. And so do people´s DNA.

Well, I do agree that physical differences show significant 'genetic' differences. Men are five inches taller than their female counterparts. There are regions in Africa where the average man is well over six foot with unusually athletic physiques and dense bones..and regions where the average man is barely over five foot. Mental? I don't think the differences are particularly great. Even crude measurements like IQ show that the vast majority of people are around the same relatively close range and (barring extreme levels of aptitude) that people can dramatically increase their intelligences & abilites with long term (intelligent) focused effort.

I observe so called 'smart' people (I'm supposed to be one of them..) and so called 'dumb' people. Over time, I realize that they're not too different. In another life lottery, they can change places.

I know, this is something different than a skill to draw or sing. I think there are many things people don´t know still about these issues. But people love to think they can be more than actually they are able to. ^No, I'm not a fan but actually - when I first heard (and saw) them with Red Morning Light - I thought these could be my kind of band. Unfortunately they've gone rapidly downhill since then, and nothing has matched that first song.

Honestly, seeing them now, they might as well be bloody Bon Jovi! <_<

Isn't it funny, but I really don't like short hair on ladies... I find it a bit of a turn-off (I had palpitations when an ex-girlfriend did it - didn't like it when 'Felicity' did it on Felicity either!!! :| ). But I have noticed your predilection for her elsewhere - and the music is very good.

^That sure is a beast - granted! And yes, I have measured him appropriately. I decided they'd probably be best displayed at 'La Bombonera' - the Boca Juniors stadium in Buenos Aires:

I love that look on certain girls

How short is too short for you? Do you have the same feeling for the look of when a girl is wearing her hair up, and kinda looks short from the front?

^Oh, I'm under no allusions as to the relative merits of either party. As I said before, 'party' politics isn't my thing at all - but one can only vote for what's on offer... I happen to lean left-of-centre myself and, naturally, have righteous indignation at certain policies home and abroad; but I'm aware of feeding my own prejudices (although I'd like to point out that I'm not overawed or swayed by the "star-power" of smug liberal Hollywood types telling me how to think!).

Mr. Beck just seemed personally dislikable!

^Pony-tails are fine - I just want to know that can all come tumbling down! I like bobs though, so, not shorter than that I guess... 'Pixie' cuts can be cute too - but I just prefer longer hair, that's all.
