I´ve always liked this saying - "We are learning our whole lives" ![]()
It´s fascinating how enormous our brain is, how complicated, how able to do or learn anything. This morning, I was talking with my fl about change people come through. I personally think a man (in the human meaning, not gender) can´t totally change from what he/she was - I think there is something solid inside of us that simply can´t be changed. You know, like someone is jealous, someone protective, someone flirty, etc... I think we can improve, but can´t really change when we are grown up.
But then I´ve come to this - a man can change, but he /she needs to step outside from it´s own box. I mean, so much people get trapped in theirown selves - their personality actually determines their whole life, their speech, their look, their life style. They put theirselves in a box of "this is me" and will never get out.
Actually, I know that those are experiences that really make a human, and that we are all made of them. But still, sometimes it seems to me like people have something inside them, like a bomb, ticking and waiting for it´s time to explode, and then it explodes and people are like - "I can´t believe that, he´s NEVER been like that, he´s so changed!" but I disagree, I don´t believe a man can change so radically, there is too much of "us" that determines us - and something like this must have been inside of that person for a long time, if not from the beginning.
Sorry, too many thoughts and no logic to them. I need to sort this one out and it can take years actually ![]()

Yeah, that was pretty out of contest. Never thought about the Christmas thing. I guess the evil sister in "Grandma Got Hit By the Reindeer" would qualify, lol. And what about that Space Odyssey cartoon you posted in the "first celebrity crushes"
? I had never heard of that show before, one of the hottest cartoons ever though
. But I guess as the current trend goes (for all 80s things) its due for a movie remake for better or worse
.

I know that this isn't your "Cup o' tea" Baron but whatcha think of this?

^You kind of answered your own question there Limey!I know that this isn't your "Cup o' tea" Baron but whatcha think of this?
Whilst I fully appreciate that E, L and P are fine musicians - that'll still be 8:44 that I won't get back! I have the same attitude to Pink Floyd too (
)... Actually, outside of Kashmir or Suite:Judy Blue Eyes I'm not that fond of the long "rock" song. You quite like a bit of 'noodling' though don't you, my friend? Tell me, what's your limit with a guitar solo? ![]()

^I suppose I'm more into rhythm than lead (I much prefer the pounding riffs of Keith Richards to Clapton or Page 'showboating') - if that makes any sense? And I always found Pink Floyd rather too pleased with themselves!
"Head versus heart" is an over-simplification in musical terms, but I hope you know what I mean?
That's not to say I'm completely averse to lead guitars or experimentation and being cerebral. I do like Hendrix, and when it comes to more avant-garde material I'm a HUGE fan of the early Roxy Music albums. I'm probably rambling now and this is a rather off-the-cuff theory anyways! ![]()
Thirsty? :brows:

^Very cute! (Y) They came a little after my time in Melbourne, but I had heard talk of them...
When it comes to songs about "cola" though - this one RULES:
^I couldn't hear anything over the bikinis ![]()
Cool song though. I always like those guys when I hear them, but I've never gotten to know them very well.. methinks I should investigate their albums more.
Little Red are pretty big here now, at least on the indie circuit. Their album last year was really good, but sadly they lost much of their lo-fi retro sound that was so prevalent in their first. This one was a favourite from last year though (Y)

Interresting point about the guitar thing. It seems that some were/are able to incorporate their virtuosity/licks ect. into the flow of the song and others not so much. One thing that kindof bothers me though is talking to some metal heads is that it seems a lot of them don't recognize the same exact notes at the same exact speed on non-electric guitars  ...Like they'll listen to a Joe Pass (who's one of the best ever to me) or someone and be like that's nothing compared to some guy from Rat or anyone decent yet loud and it just face palms me every time

I'm liking Little Red, and I thought it was all Cold Chisel in Australia!I was wondering, does anybody still watch Home & Away there anymore? I know it was never any good, but it always had wonderful looking Aussie girls strutting about - and when one actress left (inevitably to find fame in the States!) they'd just find another to play her equally stunning sister/cousin/old friend who'd just rolled in to Summer Bay...
It was popular for a while in the UK too, wasn't it Michael* (if you're visiting?)?

I find skeletons in the closet very interesting ![]()

Pretty sure it's still going, along with Neighbours. I actually used to watch it with some regularity, some years ago ![]()
That was in the era of the lovely Melissa George, who's since had some moderate success in America. Lame as the shows may be, I guess it's a good thing that they serve as a bit of a career launching pad into bigger and better things.
It's been a good few years since I've seen them but as far as I know, both Home & Away and Neighbours are still going strong over here. They were always the kind of shows that no-one would freely admit to liking, yet everyone somehow remembers Alf Stewart and Harold Bishop. ![]()
I was always more of a Neighbours guy myself, mostly because Natalie Imbruglia was in it. ![]()

^Oh yes, I'm not discounting the charms of Neighbours (and, naturally, I went to visit "Ramsay Street" during my time there!)... I was rather fond of Holly Valance in particular now that you mention it. Just I think, pound for pound, Home & Away was better for Aussie 'crumpet'! :brows:

The thought does occur that Home & Away's beach resort setting would help make the show better in that respect. ![]()
I liked Holly too though - in fact, I think her era was probably the last time I was a regular viewer. With all this talk of Aussie soaps (or perhaps more accurately, pretty Aussie soap actresses) I'm actually getting very tempted to give both shows another go. ![]()
