I hate to break up the good vibes, but it seems to me I have a serious problem . I love pancakes, but they make me really sleepy . Well, I guess the answer is to eat them for dinner instead of breakfast so nevermind . Actually, I have another problem and that's there's a couple places with all you can eat pancakes and I find that I can't eat nearly as many as I assumed I could :| . But even when I get over that, I kindof have a problem with the people that come with secret tuberware containers to bleed the places dry and some of them I know aren't that poor. It seems if everyone were like that they will have to end the all you can eat because they wouldn't be able to afford it. Either way, I try to look at the positive and I still get to enjoy something I love so I should just focus on that I guess .

Well, Joe, if that isn't really you ( ) - I've found you a nice alternative:

The Doggies have been awful too. I've been pretty wrapped with the Eagles' year so far, and your Blues are absolutely flying. Have to ask though - what do you think of the baby blue 'away' gear they've been sporting this year?
^One of the things I've always liked about Carlton's strip is that they can't/won't fuck about with it too much. This year particularly I've noticed some radical reinterpretations of the guernseys - if the names weren't up on the screen I wouldn't know what team it was?!?!

I do appreciate that you have to change from time to time, when against certain opposition (that said, did any of you see the Saints/Demons game a couple of weeks ago - it's like they wilfully wanted to make it difficult... <_< ), but the white on navy was a perfectly fine alternative. Baby blue isn't very intimidating, is it?!!

Holy crap

That second one is some spikey letters and an umlaut away from being a pretty badass metal cover

^ And how Vülcän as a band name has been overlooked for this long is anybody's guess!

^ Batman's so dark and brooding isn't he? <_< Get over yourself, and leave that sorry pirate alone... Spidey should have sorted that out with a few webs, guess he'd run out?

Went to see X-Men: First Class today too, coincidentally...

^Well I couldn't possibly advocate that..!

I don't know Mr. Icon - films, like beauty, are a matter of taste. For an avid X-Men fan, man and boy (source material here, the rest latterly); an appreciator of 60's fashion; and a newly minted fan of Jennifer Lawrence (who wears 60's very well ) I should say yes. (Y)

Indeed

They look like lovely soft pyjamas more than anything else.

There's been a lot of one-off more 'out there' variations of guernseys, and those are all well and good to pay tribute or raise awareness for certain causes, but it's nutty when they change the regular outfits for the worse. They should have kept the predominantly white ones for their away games. Although I guess it's distinctive, which is more important than looking good <_<

Been meaning to see X-Men too.. just came out last week here. I saw Super 8 on the weekend though, which gets my stamp of approval! (Y)

I have the same problem with pasta, actually....it's the massive amounts of carbs (all @ once) that does that! I like pancakes too, but refrain from eating them for that same reason.

^Letters can always come back and bite you on the arse! At least flowers and chocolates have a finite span... But I'd like to think I tailor my romantic gestures in lieu with what a lady wants. Not in a calculating, mercenary, way - but rather when you get to know somebody you figure out what makes them tick and what makes them happy. Whilst I stick with my dismissal of flowers and chocolates as viral memes for the unimaginative - if a girlfriend has expressed any such desire for such a thing then I'd feel inclined to provide it (with a customary Baron flourish, naturally! ). But - I'd like to think anyway - I wouldn't be dating a lady with such a narrow view of romance to see these as the height of expressing one's love... I'm sure we'd come to some sort of arrangement over time, and I'd enlightened her!!! 1062wine.gif

For commodity fare, I like giving a well made stuffed animal/high quality inanimate object of some sort... I like getting them too actually..but other than that, gifts are personal & contextual.

I exchange email letters several times during the week (I don't IM, too time consuming)to my partner and friends as a matter of habit so there is an element of predictability. I always, however, maintain a special letter, derived from the raw material, that I update periodically. There is a risk involved, of course but I am a risk taker & see it as a report card of sorts. All things catch up eventually and my method is to keep everything clear & open as to minimize any sort of lingering issue. I like to manage expectations.

^I have an almond and olive mini-orchard in Spain - neither of them are particularly blessed in the beauty stakes, but I thought you might like to see the terra:

I have dividend & interest yielding assets as well...

It's for your own pleasure, right? Very nice (Y) I grew some cucumbers and tomatoes and found them better than market fare.

I like the X men Ronin spinoff.

If find the 40s and 50s amusing.. The 60s are interesting too. I didn't know that the X men film was set in the 60s..seems appropriate though. In the United States, many people had a euphoric belief in the government and felt that a chosen elite of the "Best and the Brightest" would lead them through to a great society..by the late 60s this was no longer the case.

Twiggy? Gosh, I don't know many models from the 60s...must perform more research..

^Wow, Super 8 isn't due here until August some time - that's quite a difference... Unless you watched it Cult Icon style?!

Yeah, those variations can err towards the garish. But with the newer teams (the non-VFL) there doesn't appear to be so much of a history to the colours and design, and their inherent simplicity, so you end up with these Jackson Pollock abstracts that seem to differ from week to week... I must say that I do like the cleaner lines and look of Fremantle's kit now - that anchor wasn't doing it for me, and the new one (although keeping the purple) has a better 'old skool' vibe!

^Actually the back drop is the Cold War - with the Cuban missile crisis being used for the big set-piece ending... The comic itself first came out in 1963, so (as it leads to the formation of the team) it could be a nod to that as much as anything else.

As for my 'orchard', the produce is actually sold off (by weight) every year - well two years for olives as they fruit that way. The almonds become a suntan lotion! A local farmer comes by with his goats to headbutt the trees, and they place bin-liners around the trunk to catch all the falling fruits. It's oh so very bucolic!!! As income goes it's hardly much, but there's something nice about participating in the way of life there...

No, I paid for it like a sucker

It doesn't actually come out here til tomorrow, but they had an advanced screening on Monday. I'll never understand the logic behind release dates

Agree about the current Dockers' guernsey, although I actually quite liked the much maligned anchor design. Don't know if you remember that Eagles design some years ago with a more illustrative eagle on the front in a rather horrid blue-to-yellow gradient, but I'm glad they took it back to the more graphic/classic look they have now

I see you're still a fan of Jennifer

How was January Jones in this movie? Not that I want to see it, and it's not like I have seen her in anything yet :| but the cast looks pretty good yet I've heard she's the worst in this. Is it true?

January Jones was/is good in "Mad Men". I've only seen a few episodes and I'd have to agree..She plays a bored out of her mind, enslaved & unhappy housewife..

^Yes, it was rather 'busy'. I prefer the blue, white, gold colour scheme - and then an eagle moitif. No need for all that mess!

I fear Fremantle just took that whole anchor thing too far. Plus it has unfortunate rhyming partners...

^Jennifer endeared herself further, true! As for Ms. Jones - I've never been a fan, and the whole stoic, blonde, ice-queen vibe isn't my cup of tea anyway. But in terms of the character, she was pretty true to form... And I have the first three seasons of Mad Men ready to go over the next few months actually, looking forward to it immensely.

Oh definitely. Pasta and Lasagna, with their excess of blood sugar spiking refined carbs, are some of the greatest sleep inducers for sure.

I see, so it's just background. Kennedy's chosen ones, the "Best and Brightest" handled the Cuban missile crisis. I saw a magazine cover for the film and am rather surprised that they decided to make January's costume white lingere!

About your produce: do these two high officials come to enforce your peasant tribute?

I've heard too, I've been encouraged on several occasions to watch the whole thing but haven't done it either. You need an avatar, Layla! :-)
