I miss the show already. Luckily, I'm reliably informed that a second series is in the works. Not sure if they'll work the actual bridge into the story again - I suppose all they really need is to engineer a way for the Swedish and Danish police forces to work together and we'll be cooking with gas.

^Good. I was hoping that would be the case. I clocked that that "Frida" was trouble pretty early on, how about you? Reckon he was probably blackrain too! 38573061.gif

No, The Bridge probably won't be a relevant title now - kind of like how Die Hard was called (translated) The Crystal Jungle in Argentina, making the sequel titles a little screwy!

Still, not as bad as the First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part Two, and then Rambo Three headfuck!!!

Oh, I must have changed my prime suspect about once every 15 minutes - it was 'The Killing' all over again.

I'd decided from a fairly early point that it must have been someone who knew Rohde - that moment in the warehouse when the mysterious man in black chose to kick him where it hurt rather than kill him convinced me of that - but beyond that I was pretty clueless. I was even suspicious of August for a while.

And I blame George Lucas for instigating this whole 'messing with film fans numerically' trend! :persuazn:

And how was Pania?

Helena Christensen must have been a total weapon, wasn´t she? And Elle, well, she´s "the body" afterall.

^Elle was a 'business' meeting, so to speak. But she was very tall and very glamorous. No matter what you may think of models in general, when they enter a room everybody fucking notices and it's a little greyer once they've left...

I couldn't muster the guts to talk to Pania. We kept standing alongside each other though, in those twisty lines you have to wait in at passport control. Being the incredibly anal US though there was no way I could take a sneaky picture. There were plenty of bossy and shouty airport staff - mainly comprised of fearsome looking large middle-aged African-American women. Carrying guns. She looked fresh and professional though. I'm sure I looked as haggard as a guy who has spent 15 hours in a tin cigar-tube, drinking little cans of Heineken and breathing in other people's farts has any right to look.

With Helena, I was at a gallery opening for some Paul McCartney tour photo exhibition (with the man himself, and his one-time peg-legged missus). I was looking at a picture when she sneaked up on me and engaged me in conversation. My tongue swelled up and I was sweating like the proverbial! God only knows what I actually did say - but I looked upon it as a success as I didn't faint or throw up!

priceless!

I agree with you - no matter what you think about models, they are models for some reason, and beauty always has the power to shine in a room. We are used to see them in pictures, but from what you said, meeting them in person is a whole new world.

Oh B, you spoke to the Helen of Troy I can´t even imagine that.

Do you think it would be different with Behati - or even worse?

If Alessandra and Izabel are normal beauties, then Argentina must be the best country in the world! I think Aless. Ambrosia/Adriana work really well in the states. They look very exotic to us, and are accessible as well.

^I hope you did take note of my parentheses?! Obviously one has to be realistic about such things!

But, yes, the 'look' of both Ale and Izabel is pretty standard in Bs.As. If you take out the height factor (I'd say, in general, we are a short nation - most of the girls I'm referring to would be hovering around 5'3") then they're pretty similar. I'll grant you Ale can look very beautiful on occasion, but Izabel - not so much for me... Facially, colouring, and even weight she would blend in. It's a very middle class/urban South American appearance that she has.

Blondes (although there are many of the bottle-variation around) are much coveted by comparison. You see a fair girl, especially freckled and/or blue-eyed, and you'll see a dozen annoying Porteño men hovering around her!

Wow, Chantal Le Fevre. is an outstanding blonde, but unfortunately doesn't have much of a thread here.

^What?! One does the best one can... It'll be the best bloody Chantal Le Fevre thread there is on the internet - I tell you that!

So, tomorrow night. It's that time again :morning:

Quite a form slump your boys have been in, but I smell a resurgence in the offing <_<

Especially with Carrazzo and Scotland coming back, which are pretty massive 'ins'. It's been a pretty horrid run of injuries for the Blues, it has to be said, but it's been slowing being put back into place. Once Murphy and Waite come back I think you'll almost be at full strength again

^

I got to watch it live today. 11am is not the right time to start drinking, but that second quarter made me want to!

I tell you, it was a bloody good job Carrazzo was back or who knows what that final score would have been. As it was I think it flattered our performance, it was more a case of your boys not dealing that death-blow at pertinent points. I mean, 25 minutes without scoring at all?!?!

The next few games don't look too promising to bounce back into the 8 either. Hawthorn then Collingwood ( :yuckky: )... Well, I suppose I'll rely on the old 'you had 2 weeks off and we only had 6 days' standard routine excuse!

Haha, just kidding. I sure wish Erin & Lindsay E. were representatives of the 'average American..'. But they are definitely on the familiar tail end for anglo-saxon Americans just like Brookyln Decker, Julie Henderson, and so many hollywood actresses (someone cliched' like Elizabeth Banks or Reese Witherspoon comes to mind..). Straight from the Middle Class. Even my beloved Karlie has a certain 'the great middle' to her when she's not coated in modeling activities. The average white Anglo-saxon American woman hovers around 5'6''. Minorities and southern europeans, lower. 'Real' Blondes tend to be coveted everywhere.

Also, I can't think of a single person that looks like Ale. A or Izabel. They are totally unique to me.

What about Brazil? I've met a few Brazilians, and they seem to be better looking than norm, but I can't really put up a composite picture.

What about Brazil? I've met a few Brazilians, and they seem to be better looking than norm, but I can't really put up a composite picture.

^I'd say that there is a lot more African in the Brasilian mix than the models who represent them would suggest. Brasil, Suriname and Guyana had a lot more of a slave population than the rest of South America and their population demographics show this. As it is, I suppose, Brasil has perhaps the greatest melting-pot going. There might be evidences of greater racial diversities in other nations, but none that seem to have mixed quite so much. So, you look at girls like Ana B Barros or Emanuela De Paula and you'd be very hard pressed to suss out exactly their ethnicity.

Argentina doesn't have much of a native "indian" population, and nor did it have many African slaves (there has been, of late, much more discussion and acceptance that there was a population - but this seems to be an issue of contention for some reason). The biggest immigration after the initial Spanish colonisation was Italians in the late 19th century. We also have the largest amount of plastic surgeons (and instances of surgery) per capita in the world. Make of that what you will!

Not a knock on your thread, but Chantal's modeling fate...even her TFS thread fills only a single page! She deserves more exposure..

^'Even her TFS thread'? Pah! I'd like to think that her thread here is far superior. I don't get why we should kowtow to that forum so much? I appreciate that they may have more "insiders" posting there, but for Chantal's thread (and Behati's, for my part, particularly) Bellazon is better... I'd say it was down to the relative contributors.

Jaja - Lord, I'm getting 'spiky' these days...

There's been talk about some of the contentious free kicks too. There's always some of those in games, but it's a shame when they cost goals and/or turn the game significantly

It's always frustrating when your team is going well and dominating a game, but can't actually get the scoreboard ticking over. Leads are always so precarious as it is. It seems like more than ever, because of zone defense and the way teams push up the ground en masse, we see easy goals being kicked on a fast break, or after capitalising on a turnover. Teams can score so quickly now, and momentum is a hard thing to stop. There's been so many unexpected turnarounds and comebacks this year, it's extraordinary. I'm not sure if you saw or heard about that Port vs North game a few weeks ago, but the Roos dominated the entire game - up by 30 odd points half way into the final term, and Port just rolled over them in the last few minutes to win The other week, The Bombers came oh so close to snatching the biggest three-quarter-deficit-turnaround in history. From 47 points down, they came to within 4 points, and their guy marked it just outside 50m in the dying seconds. He played on just before the siren went, so that was that. If he'd waited literally half a second more, he could have had a shot at goal for the win. There's been lots of other examples too, even last night. That, and with the fluctuation in so many teams' forms it's really such an open year

Did you see NicNat's "point of the century"?

I feel the same way about Bar Rafaeli. I like her as a model but her thread is a disaster of sorts thanks to her 'fans'. She's too boring and inconsequential to deserve such aggressive attention, LOL.

^Actually I have no real problem with her looks. I've always thought she was OK. As 30-year old women with kids go she's doing very well!

What I don't like however, is being told what/who to like. And that's probably where my annoyance with her stems from (admittedly not her fault); I almost actively dislike a model when that shit starts happening! Being an iconoclast is in my nature, sure, but not to that perverse a degree though. I mean I'm a big fan of Rosie's, and she topped all those sordid polls last year (although that's a rare example of me and the populace being simpatico). The vehemence, and evangelical zeal of the Lima fans - and their belief that she has to be the best and that it has to be proved really annoys me. Why can't we all just like who we like? But no, stats have to be thrown at us and unarguable "proof" posted to show us non-believers! True this is happening elsewhere now (I mean, since when have twitter followers or YouTube hits been counted as undeniable FACT? Yet these are being heralded as proof that you are wrong if you don't like certain models here with aplomb. Statistics don't account for our individual taste), but her fans remain the most fervent...

Actually, though, you already answered your own question. It's the posturing. On and off the runway. :yuckky: STOP IT!

And then there was that oddly titled Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever - which was voted one of the worst films ever made. Another reason to steer clear of colons...

^They certainly do - I've talked about this before on some of the 'Other Females Of Interest' forum, regarding some of my favourite Korean models. It's pretty much endemic in the race-queen/gravure-idol scene.

Yeah, I guess that statistic must have been for a specific procedure then? I definitely read it a few years ago about the prevalence of plastic-surgery in middle-class Buenos Aires society, and how we were "leading" the way! There's also a massive surge in psychiatry of late, to even rival the US!

Haha, I just wish that Chantal's portfolio was more superior...

Is it the eyelid thing and nosejob with those race car models? There's a Korea-town in the city and I've known a great many south koreans. I've been to their clubs and their social events. With Korean women it's either they're good looking or they're not. There are fewer women that are in-between. The Koreans are the most materialistic and vain of the East Asians over here. They dress as expensively as they can, and they have a very active fashion sense. They like fast cars, good food, artifacts, and they always try to 'scale' up their personal consumption. They try to distinguish themselves but only according to 'tacit rules of the game' and are prone to 'herd like' behavior like the Japanese.

Korean women can be very, very good looking. I dated a beautiful one before, and she was very nice to me. There was another gorgeous korean woman I knew that eventually went back to her country and became a professional singer by trade.

---

Well, the 'Middle Class' kind of narrows it down. The 'Jersey Shore' types get more plastic surgery than many other more affluent people. Does Argentina have much of a middle class? I mean, what % of the population would you call 'middle class?'

^Yes, I had a couple of Korean-American girls stay at my old apartment learning spanish a few years ago. They were both gorgeous...

There is lot of the eyelid op going on in the main. Although there's also "boob jobs" a-plenty in this field.

^I couldn't rightly say. I'm really talking about my city anyway as opposed to the country (that said, we are roughly 40 million, half of which live in the Greater Buenos Aires area). The central barrios and 'city' are pretty much exclusively middle (and upper) class - and this is where all the shrinks and plastic surgeons have offices!

To my eternal shame, I actually sat through 'Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever' in it's entirety. It seemed like a good idea at the time, though I forget exactly why.

I guess they'll have have to be careful when they give the next X-Men movie a name - 'X-Men: Second Class' followed by 'Third Class' could be interpreted as a direct admission of a steady decline in quality. Quite frankly though, if a sequel wasn't up to scratch then I think I'd appreciate the heads up. Not to mention the possibility of ushering in a new age of studio honesty. I can see it now - 'Transformers 4: This Has Run Its Course'

I think she was THE Helen of Troy, really. She has something that just makes her special. I think that the age gap also counts - I mean, Behati is younger than you are, you´re a grown-up man (much better than the Levine scum) and (I think) that no matter how much you adore her, it would be a more grown up meeting

I guess if I was to ever meet Daria... I would take her with me to woods and then to the cottage, I think she would love it eventhough she loves ocean more
