Leighton Meester is a natural blonde too, but she looks MUCH better with any other colour. Same goes with Emma Stone.

Emma Stone, really? She just looks so right as a redhead

^Yeah, Elvis was blond too - hard to imagine really. Who knows if he'd have been so iconic without the hair-dye? I wonder how popular Candice would be if she went back to (her natural) brunette and laid off the tanning for a while... confused023.gif

Really? This is news to me

I remember the brunette Candice, I think one of the first photos I have seen of her were from Moschino Cheap&Chic and Dolce&Gabbana s/s 2006 fashion shows collections. She looked different, yes, but that was 7 years ago! So naturally, she has become less 'cute, girly' over these years.

Yes, and I am pretty sure that in fact once she went as a redhead, she started getting more offers... I think her agent suggested her to change her hair colour. Or maybe it was Emma herself who decided for this change?

Ok, now I googled it and it seems it's all thanks to Judd Apatow.

Although she's known as a redhead, her natural hair color is blonde. It was Judd Apatow who suggested she change her hair color for Supebad (2007) and she liked it so much that she decided to keep it.

That is interresting about your hair becoming lighter because a lot of blondes seem like it gets darker with age. Well, I guess that wouldn't be the case with people who are naturally pale blondes past childhood though as it would have had to be white as a child for that to be true in their case . That is true that there are consequences to hair dye. Of course, I generally maintain that everyone's natural color is best, but in the case of Meister, she's definitely better off with the dye instead .

Yeah, you can't just say anything about homosexuals at any time now either, so I guess you're right about redheads being the last one . Agreed about Hendricks and True Blood girl who ironically seem to me to have made a good choice with their color although I haven't seen them with anything else. I'm of course like you in not descriminating in any case though . Although Elvis is obviously the most famous, there are a lot of famous men who were or are natural blondes who dye their hair darker to look cooler and manlier. Of course, he was naturally cool and manly, but that's still the trend anyway. There's a lot of them in country music where ironically a large percentage of the female artists have dyed their hair blonde by contrast.

Come to think of it, my statement about Marxism is a bit edging towards strong. It is its economics that I have issue with. However, the emphasis on social relations and trying to understand how capitalism really works is where the (admittingly uneven) value lies.

That Marxism and socialism would appear in Russia and Latin America is no mystery to me as both regions possess undiversified economies based on commodity production and the extraction of raw materials. Stalin himself made his start as a Marxist revolutionary with mining workers in Baku.

^Being freelance now, naturally I'm not a 'union man'. And my grandfather is long retired. I remember my family often going on marches though, demonstrations and rallies - for workers' rights.

Was he and others employed within large firms- say over 50,000-400,000 employees? In the US, union power is correlated with 1. public sector 2. large, non-service sector firms.

The reason why Unions declined in the US private sector is directly linked with de-industrialization in the 1960s and the most competitive corporate environments that tended to decrease the employee count in companies. Unions do not thrive under these conditions.

The current government is, in essence, a leftist party (it's an offshoot of Juan Peron's Justicialist - there're a few derivations of this, such is his legacy) - but the true socialist party is, well, Partido Socialista ('The Socialist Party'!) and they are the biggest opposition although they garnered less than 20% of the last election. The modern history of Argentina is a succession of social democratic parties squabbling for a few decades and then a brutal right-wing military junta taking over for a few years when the economy goes down the pan. Repeat.

What would you say are the crown jewels of Argentina that all of this revolves around?

]^Yeah, I've let this thread slip somewhat rotten! In a typical fit of pique at the standard of conversation/intelligence on Behati's thread I took myself a 'time-out' whilst they faffed about - they can drive me insane. I'm careful not to treat that place as my own personal fiefdom - but, god, do they bugger the place up without me!!!

That thread makes no sense without you. I don´t even feel like going there during your absence - it´s so full of Adam and crazy fans that it´s almost pathetic.

^I think they wait until I'm out of the room and can't hear them - then they all start talking about him again! It's amusing that they all protest that they are Behati fans, yet never talk about her in isolation, have all joined since she hooked up with Adam Levine, and all have him as their avatars... <_<

^Whilst I think the 'Angels In Bloom' look was my favourite of the night (although I'm still scrutinising the pictures thoroughly ), I don't think anyone else could have pulled her 'Calendar Girls' look off with such elan. She strikes that perfect mix of cute/cute/sexy and moves it away from mere "slutty Hallowe'en costume"!

^icon_salute3.gif - I like to keep a tight ship, but I don't have any real authority in there. On a purely aesthetic level I'd rather she'd be dating someone not famous, as the famous boyfriend always brings the kids and the crazies... (And on a selfish level I just don't want to see it! )

^Ah, my sweet Mary! swoonbypunkyb.gif

Did you ever see any of this:

Ultimately it was just a stealth marketing campaign, but I though the concept was interesting... Mainly I'm just counting down the time for the next Die Hard although I fear her participation is something along the lines of a cameo.

Since we're on the subject of upcoming movies, has anyone happened upon the trailer for this? From the makers of 'In Bruges' apparently, though not out in the UK yet. It looks a riot and the cast is positively heaven-sent.

I hadn't, but I just watched it all the way through then. It was rather sweet. It somehow gave me a similar vibe to Eternal Sunshine.. don't you think? I was also reminded of another pretty strange movie I saw some time ago, called Palindromes (completely unrelated, but the main character was played by several different actors over the course of the film) - have you seen it?

^Yes, I quite like that director (Todd Solondz). Have you seen Happiness - as "black" comedies go you can't get much blacker! Once again Philip Seymour Hoffman is impeccable.
