That said, its interresting to me that the gentleman that played Gandolf was equally believable as Magneto and to me actually played it so well, I didn't think about or care that he didn't really look like him . I didn't look him up yet I guess because I'm somewhat warry of learning about the personal lives of celebs on my own seeing as how I'm forced to against my will for the 'A list.' Long story short, I was just curious whether you were familiar with his work in general by any chance.

Baron, I'm going to see 'The Motorcycle Diaries'. If you've seen it, what do you think of it? In reading the sypnosis, it appears that the Diaries and Che's experiences mirrors Marx/Engel's experiences among the 19th century factory system and the working poors of Manchester.

I'm okay with spoilers, btw, since this is a biopic.

So last weekend I saw Regurgitator play a pretty spectacular show. I remember you said you were into them somewhat around their ...art period. This tour though, they played through their first two albums in full, back to back - how amazing is that? I can't tell you how many times I've played Unit

Seems to be a bit of a mini trend of these retrospective album tours going around lately, which is either opportunistic money-grubbing or awesome fan service, depending if you're a half full or half empty kinda guy <_<

I'm going to see Weezer play their Blue album next year too

^He's a 'Knight of the Realm' in the UK (a Sir) - and is a very well respected theatre actor. True, his movie success has come later in life, but he's been well known for many years, particularly for Shakespearean roles. As a renowned homosexual too he's a strong advocate for gay rights, including bringing down the age for "legal" sex to 18 the same as heterosexuals...

I know he got the 'Gandalf' gig because Sean Connery turned it down.

^I have to say, despite, my earlier point, if I knew then what I know now and all that, there were opportunities I turned down at that age because of my education that I wished I'd have taken instead.

I was the first in my family to go to university and as such it was a BIG deal to everyone, I felt a certain responsibility even though I figured out in the second year that I'd be best placed elsewhere. There was a point, literally, when I could (and in retrospect should) have run away and joined the circus, plus other potential adventures - now I see it would have been fairly easy to return to higher education after such a flight of fancy...

I take it you mean outside of the VSFSs themselves? Wearing catalogue wings is a recent development, one I'm happy to see as it denotes some sort of seniority (however tenuous these things are with such a flibbertigibbet company as VS is), but these are all the ones that have come out thus far:

^It's an irony of sorts that the worst words one hears at a concert is: 'and here's something off of our new album' - and a year later it's one of your favourite songs but then they never play it live again!

I'm all for it, what I'd give to be able to see some classic acts do their old albums in full. Sadly I'll never get to hear The Gilded Palace Of Sin unless they dig up Gram Parsons, but even Exile On Main Street isn't going to happen (talking of which £1000 a ticket to see the Stones in November!?!? ). I remember reading that Suede were going to do Suede in it's entirety, but that seemed rather silly if Bernard Butler wasn't going to be there (although he gave his blessing). I thought they went downhill pretty quick after his departure, though that first album remains a huge favourite of mine...

Yeah, ...art was my intro to Regurgitator - off the back of Are U Being Served? which I found a quirky piece of brilliance taking in the theme tune to this crazy '70s British sitcom I was fond of. I'm not that familiar with their earlier work though, but I'm all for this trend! (Y)

She could enjoy life a little, right?

And I'd like to know more about what you're saying. That's because I don't know those personal details behind what you mean. You know that, Layla But coming back to the topic of discussion, I do think that people should know how to educate themselves continuously during their lifetime, and that's even more important.

I wasn't talking about me or anyone I know specifially-it was meant in general.

I can't say it for Baron but "if I knew then what I know now"... of course, sometimes when you look at things from time's perspective you may regret something. Then again, I guess that what he chose to do at that time felt right.

So, do you look like a blue eyed version of Sigrid Agren? I'll keep trying..

Baron, I heard this and thought of you. It's not a cover of the classic tune from the 1950s but a rather good slice of lo-fi pop, which to my ears sounds not unlike Felt and The Stone Roses...

Depending on what I find when I see more, I might even have to update the 'favorite famous gay men' list.

^Maybe you should have run off and joined the circus too then?! clown-smiley.gif

Where do you get all these gifs, Baron? Somehow, your collection is better than the others.

I don't know. Something like that never crossed my mind. I was too regimentalized, you see...But I do believe that it would have better for me if I took a year off. But I never did. In any event, the subsequent years were an adventure as well, but of a different variety.

They say that a full life rests on an endless sequence of varied experiences.

^I think the fashion world craves that slice of androgyny and hints of bisexuality. Maybe Arizona filled that gap, a Freja-lite so to speak. At the time I remember it was all about her new haircut though...

Does Freja not do anything now then?

Is Arizona pulling off the androgyny thing? I really don't know.

Freja was spotted recently: It was brief:

She looked well-rested, and beautiful. My stylist told me people with oval faces (she was referring to myself) can wear many different hairstyles than other types. Freja has worn different ones, but I'm not a fan of the 60s' bangs she most frequently presents herself in- I prefer the below and about 2 or 3 others.

^Ta-da! :Dinah:

I've been around, just pretty busy this last week - popped in here and there but wasn't able to give my thread the love it needed, and Mr. Icon's 'Marxism' question in particular!

Heey nice to see you back in your thread

Discussing Marxism is not an easy thing to do anyway

^I guess because Behati was only about 10 when they started fliming?!

Again, I think the role was offered elsewhere first. But, yes, the 'Gandalf' of the film definitely looks like I'd imagined him. Have you seen pictures of all the dwarves yet for The Hobbit? Kind of a rum bunch! I'm really looking forward to seeing how they've interpreted 'Smaug' though...

You've always struck me as a Tom Bombadil type, jigging about in forests at one with the elementals... Minus the big brown beard, I'm sure!

I´m sure she was an enchanting 10-year old at that anyway

And no, I haven´t seen the pics, I have seen the trailer but what still worries me is the fact that they really put Legolas in it? Still haven´t read the book either Everyone says it´s worth it. What do you think B?

I hope that this Tom guy is pretty awesome? with or without the beard
